There is a story in 1 Samuel 30 that becomes especially meaningful when you have experienced a season where it feels like life has taken more from you than you know how to recover.
David and his men returned to Ziklag and found that the city had been burned with fire and that their wives, sons and daughters had been taken captive. Everything they had built, everything they loved, everything they thought was secure had suddenly been disrupted.
And Scripture says that David and the people with him lifted up their voices and wept until they had no more power to weep.
Then it became even worse.
The people who had fought alongside David began talking about stoning him because they were bitter over what had happened.
David had lost his possessions. He had lost his family. He had lost the support of the people around him. He was standing in the middle of devastation, and there was nobody around him to strengthen him.
But then comes one of the most important statements in the passage;
“But David encouraged himself in the LORD his God.”
Before David recovered what he had lost, God helped him recover his strength.
That matters because sometimes when you lose something, the first thing you lose is not the thing itself. You lose your courage. You lose your clarity. You lose your expectation. You begin to believe that because something has been lost, the story is over.
But David's story did not end at Ziklag.
After strengthening himself in God, David asked the Lord a question,
“Shall I pursue after this troop? shall I overtake them?”
And God answered him.
“Pursue: for thou shalt surely overtake them, and without fail recover all.”
David strengthened himself.He sought God.
God gave him direction. Then David moved.
There is something here for anyone who has experienced https://t.co/h1OmFW7K66 may not be able to recover everything by your own strength. You may not even know where to begin. But loss does not mean God has abandoned you.
Sometimes divine assistance begins by helping you stand again👌
Then God gives you the wisdom to know what to pursue, the courage to pursue it, and the grace to recover what seemed permanently lost.
What have you allowed your loss to convince you is impossible?
What did you stop pursuing because disappointment became heavier than your faith?
What part of you have you abandoned because something you valued was taken from you?
Have you been grieving what you lost for so long that you have stopped asking God what can still be recovered?
David cried.David grieved.David felt the weight of what had happened.
But he did not stay there. He turned back to God.And God gave him a word,Pursue👌
As we move through this final quarter, perhaps your prayer should be, “Lord, show me what can still be recovered.”
Recover your courage, your vision, your discipline and even your voice.
Recover the things you abandoned because you thought the season was over.
And where recovery is beyond your strength, may divine assistance meet you.
May God strengthen you where you have become weary, give you clarity where you have been confused, and give you courage to pursue again.
Because the God who told David, “Without fail recover all,” is still able to help His people rise from places of loss and move toward restoration.
You may have lost something, but you have not lost God.
And if God is still with you, the loss does not get to write the final chapter.
You are DIVINELY ASSISTED.
Rahab was a prostitute.
She had a past that could have become a permanent label.
But she later married Salmon, an Israelite, and became the mother of Boaz.
And look at the kind of man Boaz became.
When Ruth came into his life, he didn't exploit her. He didn't sleep with her and call it love. He did things honorably and properly, following the right process before taking her as his wife.
Think about that.
A woman with a complicated past raised a man known for his integrity.
Who would have believed that Rahab, whose past was marked by sexual immorality, would become part of the lineage of Jesus Christ?
This is why you must never allow your past to become your identity.
God can redeem a broken history.
God can restore dignity.
God can transform a family line.
God can take what people used to shame you and make it part of your testimony.
Your past may explain where you came from, but it does not have the final authority over where God is taking you.
YOUR PAST DOESN'T NEED TO DEFINE YOU.
There is redemption in God.
If you listen to Cain, he will tell you that righteous Abel was the problem.
If you listen to Potiphar’s wife, she will tell you that righteous Joseph was the wicked man.
If you listen to Pharaoh, he will tell you that Moses was an enemy of the state.
If you listen to Saul, he will tell you that loyal David was a traitor.
If you listen to Haman, he will convince you that Mordecai was a dangerous enemy.
If you listen to Ahab and Jezebel, they will tell you that Elijah, the prophet of God, was the troublemaker.
If you listen to the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, they will tell you that the sinless Jesus was a blasphemer.
If you listen to Judas Iscariot, he will find a way to justify betrayal.
If you listen to Pontius Pilate, he will wash his hands while Truth stands directly in front of him.
And if you listen to the world, do not be surprised when it calls righteousness evil and evil good.
My friends, listen carefully: a lie does NOT become Truth simply because it is repeated loudly, confidently, or by powerful people.
Be careful what you hear.
Be careful whom you believe.
Be careful whom you follow.
Test everything by the Word of God.
The world may condemn you for standing for Biblical Truth but the only verdict that ultimately matters is His!!!
Stand firm. Stand faithful. And above all, listen to Jesus.

Pray with me
September 16, 2026
Father, You are the God who restores what is broken, renews what is weary, and brings life out of places that seemed dead. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit (Psalm 51:12).
Heal the wounds I have carried, redeem the years that have been lost, and rebuild every place in me that fear, failure, disappointment, or sin has torn down. You promised, “I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten” (Joel 2:25), so I trust You with what I cannot recover on my own.
Restore my heart to holiness, my mind to truth, my strength to purpose, my relationships to grace, and my steps to Your path. Where I have wandered, bring me home. Where I have grown cold, kindle the fire again. Where I have become discouraged, renew my hope. Where I have fallen, lift me by Your mercy. Make me like David, able to say, “He restores my soul” (Psalm 23:3).
I will not live looking backward at what was lost, because in Christ You are making all things new. Take what the enemy meant for evil and use even that for Your glory.
Establish the work of my hands, renew a steadfast spirit within me, and let the days ahead bear testimony that my Redeemer is still restoring, still rebuilding, and still making beauty from ashes.
In the name of Jesus, amen.
25 years ago we had visitors from out of town. They were my wife’s relatives. Two were teenagers who had never been to New York before. After they were here for a day we took them downtown to see the sights . we went to the top of the World Trade Center and we also went to the Statue of Liberty That was September 10, 2001. The next day was 9-11. It was a day I will never forget. We lived in Connecticut, but from the beach on Long Island sound you could see the smoke rising from the site of the World Trade Center. I knew many people who worked in those buildings. I also knew two people who were on flight 93 which went down in Pennsylvania after the passengers attacked the terrorists to prevent them from crashing the plane into the capitol. Altogether I knew 28 people who died on 911 They included neighbors and friends and former clients of mine. I remember the memorial services that followed. Everyone was a combination of angry, shocked and numb.
Now that it is 25 years later, I think it’s important that every American remember that day. the hateful ideology that drove those terrorists to kill 3000 Americans hasn’t changed. sadly there are still Islamic terrorists, Indeed countries, that chant death to America. Those of you who minimize the enormity of this crime should learn the truth about it. You should see the pictures of people killing themselves by jumping 100 stories down off the trade center in order to avoid the fires. you should read about the first responders who died when those buildings collapsed. They were brave men and women who died trying to save others. Remember, 911. never forget never forgive.
Had a two-hour flight tonight with a toddler who cried almost the entire time.
The little one was struggling.
Mom was trying everything and eventually started crying too.
And not a single person complained.
When we landed, people stayed seated so she could get off first.
Someone helped carry her bag.
The pilot personally walked her out and checked on her.
Passengers told her she was doing a good job.
Nobody knew what that child was dealing with.
Nobody knew what kind of day that mother had already survived.
They just saw a mom having a hard moment and decided to make it easier instead of making her feel worse.
Honestly, this was one of the most beautiful things I've seen on a flight.
Sometimes kindness is just giving someone enough grace to get through a difficult hour.
At mile 22 of the city marathon, hours after the winners had finished, I found a woman standing alone with a cardboard sign and a cowbell.
The sign said YOU GOT THIS.
The runners passing her now were the slow ones. The walkers. The ones in pain. She rang the bell for every single one and pointed at the sign like it had been made for each of them personally.
I asked how long she had been standing there.
"Since six," she said. Six hours.
I asked if she was waiting for someone.
"My husband made this sign in '19," she said. "I ran that year. I was slow. He stood right here for six hours so I'd see it at the hard mile."
She rang the bell for a limping man twice her age.
"He's gone now," she said. "Somebody stood for me. So now I stand."
I stayed. I held the sign for an hour so she could sit.
A runner pointed at it, and cried, and kept running.
I do not know her name. She does not know mine.
The sign knows us all.
You got this.
Prayer for guidance: "Holy Spirit, come dwell in me fully and completely. I know that I cannot change things on my own. I'm open and sensitive to Your promptings and sincerely invite You to get involved in every area of my life. Thank You, Holy Spirit, for comforting me, strengthening me, counseling me, standing by me and helping me with everything that I face and go through. I want you to be my chief Counselor, my main Teacher. I want You to lead me and guide me. I allow You to take charge and remain with me forever. Amen."
@jtlynch60 I would love to learn more about working on raw photo files. What book, course, and/ or place do you recommend I check into?
I really enjoy your pictures!
What made America different from every nation that came before it? During this rare behind-the-scenes Capitol tour, @SpeakerJohnson traces the ideas that sparked the American Revolution and transformed the course of history.
It is with profound sorrow that we bid farewell to Jeanne Gibson, our beloved Rosie the Riveter, has passed away today, July 29, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100. With her passing, we don't simply mourn the loss of a beloved friend, we honor the life of an American hero whose courage, dedication, and unwavering spirit helped shape history, and will continue to inspire generations to come.📷📷
At just 18 years old, Jeanne left her home in Minnesota in the summer of 1944 and answered her nation's call, becoming a welder at Todd Pacific Shipyards in Seattle. With determination and grit, she helped build destroyers that strengthened the Allied war effort during World War II. She later continued her service with the Army Transportation Corps in Juneau, Alaska, embodying the resilience and patriotism of the Greatest Generation.
Yet Jeanne's legacy extended far beyond the war. She earned her Ph.D., dedicated three decades to teaching, earned her private pilot license, and spent the rest of her life proving that courage, determination, and purpose know no age.
In 2024, Jeanne and her fellow Rosies were collectively awarded the Congressional Gold Medal, one of our nation's highest civilian honors, recognizing the extraordinary women whose sacrifices and determination helped secure victory during World War II.
To all of us at Pacific Historic Parks, Jeanne was far more than a Rosie, she was family. She traveled to Hawaiʻi time and again to share her remarkable story with visitors, inspire local students, and ensure that the sacrifices of the Home Front would never be forgotten. Her radiant smile, generous heart, and boundless enthusiasm touched every life she encountered.
She had a special gift for encouraging young girls, reminding them that no dream was too big and no obstacle too great. Through her words and her example, she inspired generations to believe in themselves and pursue lives of courage, service, and purpose.
Jeanne remained a tireless advocate for preserving the legacy of the Rosies, volunteering at Rosie the Riveter WWII Home Front National Historical Park on "Rosie Fridays" and ensuring the stories of the women who helped win the war would continue to inspire future generations.
In one of life's poignant moments, just days before her passing, Jeanne was celebrated with a Wall of Honor banner at the park she loved so dearly and recognized during a San Jose Earthquakes halftime ceremony honoring Bay Area heroes. It was a fitting tribute to a woman whose life was defined by selfless service, quiet strength, and extraordinary grace.
Though Jeanne has taken her final flight, her legacy will never fade. It lives on in every story she shared, every young person she inspired, every life she touched, and in the enduring example of courage she leaves behind.
Our hearts are with Jeanne's family, her fellow Rosies, and all who were blessed to know and love her.
Rest in peace, Jeanne Gibson.
Thank you for answering the call when your country needed you most. Thank you for showing generations what courage looks like. We will remember you always
The greatest lessons Lindsey taught weren't spoken - they were lived.
God doesn’t intend for us to be carbon copies. Lindsey was an original, and he remained true to himself. May we honor his legacy by living with purpose, courage, and conviction.
A Prayer of Deliverance
July 29, 2026
Heavenly Father,
I come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Son of the living God. You alone are my refuge, my fortress, and my deliverer. Your Word declares that if the Son sets us free, we shall be free indeed. Today I stand on that promise.
Lord, search my heart and expose anything within me that is not pleasing to You. I confess my sins before You and ask for Your mercy. Wash me clean by the blood of Jesus Christ. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
Father, deliver me from every chain that seeks to bind me. Break the grip of fear, anxiety, pride, bitterness, lust, addiction, deception, unbelief, and every stronghold that exalts itself against the knowledge of Christ. Let every lie of the enemy be replaced with the truth of Your Word.
In the authority of Jesus’ name, I renounce every work of darkness and every influence that seeks to draw me away from You. I belong to Jesus. I have been bought with a price. I declare that no weapon formed against me shall prosper, and greater is He who is in me than he who is in the world.
Lord, surround me with Your holy angels. Be my shield and my defender. Lead me away from temptation and deliver me from evil. Fill me afresh with Your Holy Spirit, producing in me love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Let my life become a testimony of Your power to rescue and restore.
Teach me to walk in obedience, for true freedom is found in following Christ. Give me the courage to flee what is sinful, the wisdom to discern what is true, and the strength to stand firm when I am tested.
I praise You because You are the God who hears the cries of Your people. You continue to deliver all who call upon Your name. I trust You with my life, my family, my future, and my soul.
I surrender everything to You. Let the peace of Christ rule in my heart, the Word of Christ dwell richly within me, and the glory of Christ be seen through my life until the day I stand in Your presence.
I ask all of this in the powerful and victorious name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior.
Amen.
@SaltyDGalveston Easy first choice Texas rangers (sorry George bush). 2nd is hard: #4 because a bit too spicy. Now the last one is extremely difficult: Dr Pepper. Only because blue bell has the DP ice cream.
I picture myself standing alone on a mountain summit at midnight, the cold air pressing against my face as I lift my eyes toward a sky crowded with stars. The universe stretches farther than my mind can follow and for a moment eternity feels almost too vast to enter.
Then I remember who will be waiting for me.
Eternal life will not feel like stepping into an endless, empty expanse. It will feel like coming home after a lifetime of wandering.
Every shadow will lift and every tear will be wiped away.
Shame will lose its voice, sorrow will release its grip and nothing will ever separate me from the love of God again.
And there, in a world bright with unclouded holiness, I will see the Savior who loved me all the way to the cross.
I will look into the eyes of the kindest Person in the universe. The hands once pierced for me will welcome me. The voice that called me through every valley will speak my name.
And at last, I will hear Jesus say, “You are home.”
