Other platforms have banned videos from @JenniferSey! And yeah, the $10 million the Super Bowl wants is out of reach. But I think this deserves the best of the best award. The only way any of us can see it is by showing each other. Which I will do!!
On the 24th anniversary of 9/11, we honor the lives lost, the heroes who emerged, and the resilience of the American spirit.
America will never forget.
I have been involved in urban violence for 50 years, and I strive to remain realistic about my observations over the years. There is significant concern in this country regarding mass shootings involving assault rifles. However, what often receives less attention are the mass shootings in urban areas that involve both assault rifles and handguns equipped with extended magazines and switches. A lot well-meaning people believe that banning assault rifles is essential to prevent mass shootings.
For decades, I have observed elected officials implement strict legislation intended to penalize those involved in drug trafficking. Unfortunately, this has not reduced the level of drug use and trafficking in our nation. In my opinion, even if we were to ban assault rifles, they would still find their way onto the streets of America through the underground black market, as the demand for them would likely only increase. I do not believe that morality can be legislated.
For many years now, the moral fabric of our country has been in decline. You cannot legislate “Thou shalt not kill.” A moral compass or respect for the sanctity of human life cannot be mandated through legislation. Laws can declare certain actions to be wrong, but what we face is a heart issue in America. There is a spiritual crisis in our nation that is leading to a collapse of our moral fabric, manifesting itself in heinous acts of evil, such as mass shootings.
There was a time in America when biblical principles and morality were taught at home, in church, and in school, and were reinforced in neighborhoods. To all the politicians, experts, and political pundits, I don’t believe you can stop any of this without God. You cannot fix the brokenness of the soul without God. You cannot overcome the hatred and wickedness of the heart without God. We cannot overcome a culture that glorifies violence and immorality without God. Legislation won't fix what is broken in this country; only God can. Only God can transform the human heart to bring out the best in all of us. I'm sorry, only God, not legislation, can heal our nation.
