Our inquiry into measurement and coding led us to explore with Spheros, which led to a hallway racing game and creating a Sphero obstacle course. What an amazing way to end the semester. #saisrocks
Fourth annual ‘Design A Sleigh For Santa’ challenge. All the Santas survived the deadly slide this year. Demonstrating our ingenuity, teamwork, and time management skills. #savesanta#saisrocks
Sometimes agency feels chaotic in the moment, with multiple supplies and check-in’s, but when you step back and watch the kids plan, research, and construct a product it is pure magic. #saisrocks
Spent the week recording our daily habits and analyzing how our choices affect our well-being and behaviors. Students reflected daily with each other on how they felt physically and emotionally. Lots of connections made with our WWA (body systems) and fractions unit. #saisrocks
It was a roller coaster of highs and lows today during our first Sage & Scribe activity, but in the end the students were proud of not only their ability to show their understanding, but to truly listen to their partner. The big take away, “teaching is so difficult.”#saisrocks
It’s only week 4 and I am already blown away by the communication, research, and self-management skills the students are demonstrating in their UOI learning. They are so engaged in finding out more about human rights and how they can help with injustices. #HWOO @SAISrocks
Never have I ever tuned in before a math pre-assessment, but seeing and hearing the relief of the students as they explored geometry was amazing. Big shout out to @thurlowleanne for her guidance and activities. #saisrocks
The first week of school was completely exhausting, huge reality check when your body aches from just standing, but all the aches were worth the meaningful chats, laughter, and community building. #saisrocks
Brainstorm, share, debate...repeat. New units bring new inquires, new ideas, and new perspectives, good thing our units are about persuading and how we express ourselves. #saisrocks#cogintaway
I’m not sure if it was the promise of chocolate after our fraction activity or their love for group math work, but the group collaboration, critical thinking, and focus was absolutely amazing. And yes, I know it was all about the chocolate, but a teacher can dream. #saisrocks
It’s amazing to see what kids can do when you just let go. After weeks of tuning in, finding out, and making connections, the students went above and beyond in sharing their understanding of energy. Best line of the week, “I’ve been waiting my whole life to do this.” #saisrocks
How many ways can you model a decimal? Well, we tried our best today with a number line, place value blocks, hundredths grid, and a hundredths disk. The kids were so amazed that one number could be modeled in so many ways. #saisrocks
The best part of today’s Mini Metric Olympics wasn’t the kids excitement in competing in ridiculous events like, the paper straw javelin throw or cotton ball shot put, but the motivational signs to encourage their team members. Best sign, “Go someone! Someone win!” #saisrocks
It’s all about the energy! Building heat spinners to investigate the transfer of thermal energy to mechanical energy. The kids were thrilled just using their breath, can’t wait to see how they react tomorrow with steam, fire, and a heat lamp. #htww#saisrocks@MysterySci
The kids were pumped to measure anything and everything around the room last week, as we worked on estimating, measuring, and converting length. Even managed to sneak in a little measurement during our UOI energy activity. #saisrocks
One of our talented grade 4 students designed our new elementary house team logos. Amazed by his creativity and dedication. Big thanks to @ATorrens84 and @tanyavok for their guidance and help. #saisrocks
