I'm a practicing trader, and I'm tired of advice from people who never walked this path themselves.
Over 6 years in trading I've gone through several stages: from complete confusion to trading prop accounts and running my own investment portfolio.
@EliteOptions2 I'd add one more thing: simplify your trading instead of making it more complicated. Remove what doesn't work and what negatively affects your performance.
Two numbers, and most traders only track one.
The system's result: what you'd have earned following your rules.
The trader's result: what you actually earned, with every emotional decision included.
If the first is solid and the second is weak, your strategy isn't the problem. Your execution is. Premature exits, impulsive entries, risk changed halfway through. The strategy was fine. You didn't run it.
Close the gap before you touch the rules.
@tradericch Most people think 21 days of building discipline will make them disciplined for life. But the truth is, the temptation and the struggle are there every single day.
@jtrader Most people underestimate how much they actually lose during a drawdown and how much they need to gain just to break even. That’s why risk management is the foundation.
