@millerholzer Its easy to get carried away with rule changes, but this game takes it quite well. Now I'm using the historical setup, reducing bombardment effectiveness for unstacked units, dropping the mine units, and using 2d6 to determine Armor move rate. Works well @Decisiongames#DGFolio
Alam el Halfa redo. Turn 2 sandstorm, a tuf break for a short game, allies pull back. Turn 3; Kesselring pummels Malta. Another Rommel breakout but maybe not enuf, 9th Aussies vernichtet. @Decisiongames#DGFolio#Decisiongames
Alam el Halfa, revised rules. This is a 1st turn 'Schwerpunkt' breakout, nixing the 5th Indian, and threatning to cut supply to Allied armor. The deep penetration and fanning out is a good die roll at +17 (revised mine CRT) @Decisiongames#DGFolio#Decisiongames
Rommel's adventure at El Alamein was hopeless, no fun. Alam el Halfa reflects this. But...its not immutable, it can be a game. To start...allow 3 hi stacking for the Axis, add a supply rule, rebuild the CRT, etc., etc. @Decisiongames#DGFolio#Decisiongames
Just a box game or a dark horse? Regular cover art unites title and theme. But this product has more. It evokes the added dimension of disposition, temperament. The depiction of moodiness is rare in the chronicles of cover art. @markholtwalker#flyingpiggames#wargamecollector
@evildrganymede @Decisiongames@gmtgames@UPS@FedEx When I pay GST, border services slaps on the handling charge for slapping a sticker on the package (its called 'pay for my time because I say so'). I wager its the same south of the border.
@evildrganymede @Decisiongames@gmtgames@UPS@FedEx Well...when I paced an order at DG, I could choose a shipping option, and that's what I paid. When the order got to the border, Canada border services would charge GST and handling & maybe open the pack. Sounds like u've been pinched? The Post tells me appealing isn't worth it.
@evildrganymede @Decisiongames@gmtgames@UPS Oh man...sorry. I can relate. Customs got me on an order, but because there wasn't enough room for all the items on the label, I didn't have to pay the actual full GST. lol @decisiongames
Lawrence of Arabia by 3W from 1993, still in it's shrink wrap, found at a garage sale. Because it was lumped in with other stuff it cost basically nil. How does this happen? But this is Canada. #wargame#wargamecollector
@CenturionsRvw Nice retro play. Is that the "A Free Game" from 1979? I remember playing NAW, mid 70s, at the wargame club on campus, while the 'upper' class were mucking about with USN. Have you tried "Lost Battles"? I would like to hear JFD's story on that one.
@RickRossRolled That is a project for sure. Intriguing stuff. After I read 'Brazen Chariots' by Major Crisp and 'With Rommel in the Desert' by H W Schmidt (several times) I bought Desert War and Tank! from Noble Knight Games. But not a fan of Dunnigan's SMS.
