My daughter imagines she’s in; Mallorca with a mock tail in hand, lounging in a nice hotel beside a swimming pool. We’ve not only gone virtual, this imaginary living. The new normal.
A Nigerian Earning ₦60 Thousand Now is Better Off Than a Nigerian Who Japa Five Years Ago — Presidential Aide, Daniel Bwala
Special adviser to the president on media and policy communications, Daniel Bwala has said that many Nigerians who moved abroad in search of greener pastures are facing harsh economic realities despite holding advanced degrees.
Speaking on The Morayo Show, Bwala said some Nigerians in the United Kingdom are working jobs that do not match their educational qualifications.
“Some of you in Nigeria who think you are suffering, you’re better off than your colleagues that japa five years ago,” Bwala said.
He described the situation as a form of modern-day exploitation, noting that many degree holders end up working in care homes and warehouses.
“As far as I am concerned, it is modern-day slavery,” he stated.
According to him, although workers may earn about £2,600 to £2,800 monthly, most of the income is spent on rent, utilities, internet, transportation, and feeding, leaving little savings.
“At the end of the day, what you are left with is not much. So you are forced to do two or three jobs,” he said.
Bwala argued that a Nigerian earning ₦60,000 locally could still benefit from family support and lower living costs compared to someone struggling abroad.
“That ₦60,000 earner can still get support from family and friends, while many abroad have nobody to fall back on,” he added.
He also defended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s social intervention policies, citing the 50 percent subsidy on dialysis in federal hospitals and the provision of free cesarean sections in public health facilities.
“President Bola Tinubu introduced 50 percent subsidy on dialysis in federal hospitals, and cesarean section has been made free in public hospitals,” Bwala said.
He added that the administration hopes to expand healthcare support to more services and prescription drugs as government resources improve.
I strongly believe there’s something wrong with how China conducts international business or foreign policy. It’s not collaborative enough and that will be her undoing. US made mistakes all of last year and left opening but none was exploited by China.
I’ve always said Iran is foolish to negotiate peace with the US. There’s no peace to be made, it’s all designed to lower price of oil and some overheating economic indices. Those were Iran’s aces but hey
I know Messi won his group but how can you say the toughest team you play before you get to a WORLD CUP SEMI FINAL is fucking Switzerland
This luck is insane bro
Same rule. Afcon 2024, Nigeria conceded a penalty in 89th minute after Osimhen thought he had doubled the lead. Exact scenario, Egypt lucky for it not to have been a foul in the box.
It’s easy to shout rigged, but this is the literal rule. Foul in build up invalidates a goal.
BREAKING: A source close to Iran's top negotiator suggests the MOU is effectively dead after the U.S. revoked the sanctions waiver — with Iran set to tighten its grip on the Strait of Hormuz and put Bab el-Mandeb "on the table", according to some Iranian outlets.
The source said the revocation marks a "fundamental breach," leaving Tehran with no reason to limit its military posture. Iran's patience with U.S. escorts was already running thin — now with the economic incentive removed, the threshold for escalation has been significantly lowered.
"The MOU just ended here," the source said. "If Washington wants to push, Tehran will respond by widening the front — closing Bab el-Mandeb is also on the table."
BREAKING: The U.S. military says it has launched a series of 'powerful strikes' against Iran in response to attacks on three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian state media say multiple strikes have been heard in the south of the country.
