Thank you to @EthicsInSPORT and @EallianceSport for this important initiative to compile and summarize scientific results about transgender athletes in competitive sports. Robust research helps dispel so many misconceptions, especially about athletes who are transgender women.
Thank you to @Startup_Canada and @theCGLCC for compiling this guide to help organizations level up their inclusion of 2SLGTQ+ people. TransFocus is honoured to contribute resources and videos explaining nuanced issues facing trans and non-binary people in the workplace.
2SLGBTQ+ entrepreneurs need resources that empower them. We are proud to partner with @theCGLCC to co-present this curated resource guide powered by support organizations that exist to empower 2SLGBTQ+ entrepreneurs and communities. 👉 https://t.co/mId0bouc6k #StartupCanadaPride

@Startup_Canada What are some strategies that you all use to keep the momentum towards greater EDI going?
We share tangible examples of success and break the journey down into steps.
@Startup_Canada@MastercardCA@ElevateTechCA 2/2: If we are asking orgs to make changes that we don’t do ourselves (especially as allies to other equity groups), then we miss the mark. This is a journey of continuous growth for all of us.
@Startup_Canada@MastercardCA@ElevateTechCA 1/2: Since we do EDI work, it is infused in everything from start to finish of projects on gender diversity. We try to be thoughtful about living up to our own recommendations. #StartupChats
@Startup_Canada@MastercardCA@ElevateTechCA The easiest method is creating ongoing, intentional, and safer spaces for listening to employee experiences. A lot people do not say in the moment what harmed them, but that doesn’t mean the impact isn’t negative in ways that compromise their wellbeing. #StartupChats
@Startup_Canada@MastercardCA@ElevateTechCA We encourage specific, measurable goals for representation and wellbeing. Orgs want the people they hire to thrive. Who is responsible? Ultimately, everyone in the org, but leaders play a unique, motivating role. #StartupChats
@Startup_Canada@MastercardCA@ElevateTechCA We recommend orgs take honest stock of where they are at for each equity group, followed by what they can reasonably do in the short-term and long-term. A good way to start is conducting an anonymous survey among employees to get their experiences + ideas. #StartupChats
@Startup_Canada@MastercardCA@ElevateTechCA Now that said, success is guaranteed for diverse teams. Diverse teams need to be set-up for success to be able to understand, navigate, and celebrate their differences. More time and thought needs to go into creating this, but it’s well worth the investment. #StartupChats
@Startup_Canada@MastercardCA@ElevateTechCA It’s rather simple: Diversity of perspective. That is, based on someone’s experiences they may be able to see something that someone else cannot. And by being in the room, they can raise the issues and ensure that there is greater inclusion. #StartupChats
@Startup_Canada@MastercardCA@ElevateTechCA Intersectionality is really important for us and we intentionally collaborate with trans associates from a range of backgrounds to inform our research and results. This ensures our recommendations to orgs on gender diversity are robust and comprehensive. #StartupChats
@Startup_Canada@MastercardCA@ElevateTechCA We observe orgs struggle with: 1) being overwhelmed by the # and types of EDI changes needed, 2) siloing EDI work without resources, and 3) not knowing how to fit gender equity with gender diversity objectives. #StartupChats
