🔥 Our favorite constraint at Transforming Basketball
🧠 The "Floor is Lava" constraint creates better spacing by forcing players to escape the paint, encouraging smarter positioning and movement without the ball.
😄 Players love it. Coaches see results.

Dribble Knockout 🥊

1v1 small-space knockout game designed to build confident ball-handlers. Players protect their own dribble while trying to knock their opponent's ball outside the area, creating pressure, contact and constant changes of direction.

Resistance Dribbling 💪

Partner ball-handling activity where the defender applies resistance and disruption while the offensive player maintains control of the ball. Adjust the amount and direction of resistance to create different problems for the ball-handler.

Split Action 2v2 ✂️

2v2 small-sided game built around split action from the post. The offense can cut, screen, slip or react to how the defense covers the action, allowing solutions to emerge from the interaction rather than following a predetermined pattern.

[Transforming Basketball @transformbball]

Frogger 🐸

Snake dribble activity where players have to navigate live traffic before finishing at the basket. The moving players create different gaps and timings on every repetition, encouraging the ball-handler to scan and adapt their drive.

You are always option number one.

Balloon Post-Up 🎈

Post-up warm-up where players compete for position while keeping a balloon in the air. The additional task creates variability while players manage contact, body positioning and attention at the same time.

2-on-2, Only Score off Gets In A Restricted Space

Constraining the space leads to harder offensive decision-making, making it more realistic for the offense vs venturing into unrealistic spacings that won't exist in 5-on-5 play.

Snowman Shooting ⛄️

Partner shooting activity challenging players to organise their hands underneath the ball before flowing directly into their shot. Change the starting position, distance or angle to create variability between reps.

Many coaches state that their players must be taught something in order to do this. But does this align with common sense and what actually happens when watching them play?
