Romans 1:18-32. Behind the good news of the gospel lies the tough news that all people are implicated in acts and attitudes that God has promised to punish unless his means of grace are embraced. The gospel is the antidote.

Romans 1:20. Nature is all we need to acknowledge God’s existence. Everything in creation points to a creator, that is why we are “without excuse”.

Romans 1:17. We must always remember God’s righteousness is a gift from him to us, justifying us in his sight. From faith to faith emphasizes that the entire process of being declared righteous comes to us from start to finish by faith.

Romans 1:16. God puts the penalty of our sin on Christ so that “everyone who believes” receives salvation. Salvation is a gift perfectly designed by God.

Romans 1:8. Paul is so thankful to God for the famous faith of the church in this text. He’s thankful for numerous reasons, one of them being that he has a passion to see Christ’s name exalted. Do you share that same passion? Are you thankful for the faith of others?

Romans 1:8-15. The heartbeat of those who know God through faith is to make Him known. Paul desires to visit Rome to spread the Gospel to the people there, and through mutual encouragement, to take the Gospel to other lands. Do you desire to spread His word?

Matthew 2:12. After the wise men encountered Jesus, the trajectory of their lives changed forever. Once following orders given by a king, now they are following orders given by The King. Instead of returning to Herod, the men departed home with a new sense worship and treasure.

Matthew 2:11. Isn’t it cool how as soon as the wise men saw Jesus, their idea of treasure was completely redefined? The things that helped define their status (gold, frankincense, and myrrh), were placed at the feet of Jesus. Jesus became their only treasure after one encounter.

Matthew 2:11. When the wise men entered the house and saw Jesus, their instinctive response was to fall to their knees and worship him. Even from the manger, Jesus held the world in his hands.

Matthew 2:2. The wise men show up on the scene and began asking “where is he who has been born king of the Jews?” Christmas is about God encountering humanity through Jesus. Praise be to God for this encounter.

Heb 1:3. Think about what it means to “radiate” God’s glory. How does that apply to us? Christ can radiate the glory of the Father from within because He is one with the Father. However our role is one of reflection. The glory of God should be reflected by our lives.

What precious value is this grace! The “precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb” (v. 19) makes “silver or gold” (v. 18) seem like rubbish. We have been ransomed by the imperishable blood of Christ, which affords for us eternal life.

1 Peter 1:4. Praise God that our salvation is not based on us, but instead, is a gift based on what Jesus has done for us! That is why we can confidently believe once we are brought into this inheritance, it will never fade.
