Disclosure of foreign sources of income matters. But, since it is simple to hide foreign funding through domestic lobbies, disclosing all funding is really what is needed. Many reputable think tanks on both sides of the aisle already do: https://t.co/wdiA14y1ai
The @StateDept will henceforth request think tanks that accept money from foreign governments disclose this information to the public. The purpose is simple: to promote free and open dialogue, untainted by the machinations of authoritarian regimes.
