Kenya’s transformation will be built on infrastructure, and infrastructure will be built on engineering excellence.
I officially opened the 5th Annual Conference of the Association of Consulting Engineers of Kenya (ACEK), where I challenged our engineers to think beyond today: embrace AI, digital technologies, green construction and innovative financing, while positioning Kenyan firms to compete across Africa.
Our infrastructure needs are growing rapidly. By 2050, Kenya’s population is projected to reach 85 million, demanding smarter roads, railways, airports, ports, energy, water and digital infrastructure.
The Government is opening new pathways through PPPs, fuel-levy securitisation, and the National Tolling Policy to mobilise the capital needed to deliver this ambitious pipeline.
We are investing in connectivity, energy, irrigation, research and innovation, while strengthening local content and creating opportunities for young engineers.
Principal Secretary @PSRoads_Ke, today joined the Cabinet Secretary @davis_chirchir at the 5th @ACEK1968 Annual Conference in Naivasha, held under the theme “Engineering Transformation: Scaling Green Growth, Smart Infrastructure and Resilient Futures.”

The Government is accelerating the construction of the Enziu Bridge and Approach Roads in Kitui County, a critical 120-metre link connecting Nuu and surrounding communities to the A3 Thika - Garissa Highway.
At 70.5% physical progress, the project has reached a major milestone with the fabricated steel girders and superstructure components now delivered to site. Their installation will accelerate the remaining works and move the project closer to completion.
Construction of Enziu Bridge and Approach Roads Progress Update:
Today, the Director General, KeRRA, Eng. Jackson Magondu, visited the Enziu Bridge and Approach Roads Project in Mwingi, Kitui County, to assess the progress of ongoing construction works. Currently the physical progress stands at 70% marking a significant development towards the completion of this critical infrastructure.
During the site visit the Director General inspected the steel girders, which is a major milestone in the construction of the bridge. Once the installation of the steel girders and other superstructure elements is done that is expected to accelerate the remaining works and bring the project closer to completion.
The Bridge is expected to improve connectivity and facilitate the movement of people, goods and services for communities in Nguni, Muangeni, Mutyang’ombe, Kaai, Nuu and surrounding areas. KeRRA remains committed to ensuring timely completion of the project while ensuring quality, accountability in its service delivery.

Our plan for the Nairobi Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transport system is the perfect solution to the traffic congestion and gridlock that face our capital city and the environs.
Already, the Nairobi City County Government has given the necessary approvals for the first phase of the project, a 30km underground railway line linking densely populated parts of Eastlands and the Central Business District and comprising 25 stations.
This will be the beginning of the establishment of a multi-modal transport system, featuring bus rapid transit and commuter rail, to move nearly 5 million city residents who make more than 12 million trips to and fro every day.
Briefed on the progress of the Nairobi Metropolitan Mass Rapid Transport system project at State House Nairobi by Transport ministry and Nairobi County officials led by Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir and Governor Johnson Sakaja.
