🎚️ Producing with mixing in mind.
I’d say probably the most important thing how you can take care of the future mix is reserving the upper mids for vocals.
Frequencies like 2-4k shouldn’t be oversaturated with sounds and harmonic content on the beat itself. Production that considers future song should be very soft on the ear.
I’m talking about these frequencies because it’s where are a lot of vocal clarity lives and we are very sensitive to these frequencies. If you will put too much content there, adding vocals will not sound pleasant, and your production idea will have to be affected more to fit the vocals in.
The best result comes from envisioning the final result from the beginning, and arrange your whole song with the future mix in mind.

i think it actually takes some talent to make a truly horrible beat. a regular person will make a very mid beat, but to make a truly ass beat you have to kinda know what ur doing
Ofc I enjoyed the underground this year, but the producers were just as loud. Def caught my attention. I’m loving the new scene. Prods feel more united, so many collectives popping up. People don’t realize how much they shape the sound our favorite rappers experiment with.
