Kudos Amarillo DPS CID for this award. Countless lives saved by their investigative diligence. DPS' new iSAVE BTAM platform played a role in the success by bringing together SMEs to coordinate investigation. As the architects of iSAVE @trapwire is extremely proud of this win.
At this morning’s Public Safety Commission (PSC) meeting, DPS Criminal Investigations Division (CID) Amarillo was awarded a Unit Citation for their swift, decisive actions that prevented a mass attack in Northwest Texas last year. Coordinating with area law enforcement partners, CID Amarillo’s work led to the arrest and federal conviction of a man plotting to use a weapon of mass destruction at a 4th of July parade.
CID Amarillo’s steadfast commitment to monitoring and investigating the suspect ultimately disrupted a credible mass-casualty terrorist plot, saving countless lives. Please join us in congratulating their team on earning this honor.
More details about their work to arrest the suspect here: https://t.co/dBFJAPI4s0.
Kudos TXDPS and the Rangers for making the arrests. But the work isn't done - DPS believes there may be more victims out there and is asking anyone who may have additional information to file an anonymous report into the #iWatchTexas reporting system.

TX continues to be the model for school safety, including higher education. iWatchTexas puts every school in TX on a single threat sharing and alerting network. The results speak for themselves with dozens of threats thwarted. Proud of our role in making this happen. TrapWire
As college students return for the fall semester, DPS encourages students to stay alert, make smart decisions and look out for one another — whether you're heading to class, driving around campus, attending a football game or enjoying a night out.
Remember:
• Stay aware of your surroundings and trust your instincts.
• Walk with friends and stick to well-lit, populated areas.
• Secure your dorm, apartment and vehicle.
• Let someone know where you're going when heading out.
• Never leave your drink unattended.
• Report suspicious activity through iWatchTexas.
A safe school year starts with responsible choices. Take a few minutes to review these tips and start the semester on the right foot. Read the full list of college safety tips and learn more about public safety resources available to students, parents and campus communities: https://t.co/PL5JaVs1a9
Anyone involved in BTAM across Texas or interested in starting a similar program in your state: TXDPS has launched the iSAVE BTAM statewide violence prevention network. A single platform to collect, analyze and adjudicate targeted violence. Built and maintained by @trapwire
Just last month a San Antonio man, with ties to 764, was sentenced to 40 years in prison. Additionally, the FBI believes 764 has recruited/groomed young people to commit mass shootings in Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Colorado. This is a serious threat to public safety.
Congratulations TXDPS! Over the past 20 years we’ve had the opportunity to work with various law enforcement, US military, intel community and CIKR clients. We can honestly say DPS ranks at the top of our favorite partners to work with. Here’s to another 91 years!
91 years. One mission. Generations of service.
For 91 years, the men and women of DPS have answered the call to protect and serve Texas. This morning, our Recruit Classes came together to honor that legacy — remembering those who came before them, those who made the ultimate sacrifice and the responsibility they will soon carry forward.
The legacy began in 1935. Now, they’re preparing to become part of it.
Since 2018 the @trapwire developed iWatchTexas program has been protecting Texas schools, K-University. Dozens of threats have been thwarted and lives have been saved. We are ready to help TXDPS again this school year to keep every student safe.
As students across Texas head back to the classroom, DPS remindsall Texans that school safety is a shared responsibility.
Drivers should slow down in school zones, eliminate distractions, remain alert and give students extra space. Remember: If a school bus is displaying alternating flashing red lights, drivers are required to stop. Parents and guardians should also talk with children about emergency procedures, situational awareness and who they can turn to for help at school. Remember to keep emergency contact information current and have a recent photo of your child available in case of an emergency.
Texans can also help keep schools and communities safe by reporting suspicious activity through iWatchTexas. As we begin a new school year, DPS encourages everyone to make safety a priority and do their part to help ensure every student makes it to school and back home safely.
