2 years ago, I started The Travel Runner to:
1. Write about my travels
2. Create a portfolio for a future job
2 years later, it's formed into an LLC, gets 40,000+ views every month, and has helped me connect with people around the world.
Thank you all💚
Got my first speeding ticket in a while last week while traveling from Moab to Phoenix.
So that sucks.
But, I did use my Capital One Venture card to pay it…so I guess double miles for a speeding ticket isn’t all that bad, right? 🤣
Let’s normalize sticking to the topic in blog posts in 2024.
If I’m searching a hike, I don’t need places to stay, the closest restaurants, or any of this.
I want to hike, get dirty and sweaty, and see cool shit.
Stop adding all the stuff people don’t care about.
‼️FRIENDLY TRAVEL TIP‼️
It's okay to have a budget for your trip.
But don't be afraid to splurge on something especially memory-worthy. After all, that's the point of your trip!
You might as well enjoy it.
#BudgetAndSplurge
‼️FRIENDLY TRAVEL TIP‼️
Always check local customs to avoid any awkward moments.
For example, tipping isn't expected in some areas. And touching a Thai person on the head can be disrespectful.
Always know before you go.

@Elizabcullen Haha right? I wouldn’t think of it. But as a teacher, maybe it was more common? No clue haha.
You also don’t put your feet higher than your head. So reclining far back in a chair is a no no 😂
@SHinyoface@BYox23@ESPNRittenberg You don’t watch the games, just admit it.
Every OSU fan knows this team was primed to compete for a natty. The only issue was the QB talent wasn’t equal to the talent around him.
It’s not that he’s bad or sucks. He’s just not at a level he needs to be at a program like OSU.
Albania's #ThethNationalPark blew me away with its beauty 🏔️
And with all of the hikes, nature, and food to enjoy, it's hard not to want to go back immediately.
And I've noticed this with a few places during my travels.
What's a place that has this pull for you?
‼️FRIENDLY TRAVEL TIP‼️
Always have a power bank to charge your devices on the go.
You never know when you'll need some power in a pinch. Plus, they're lightweight enough you won't even know you have it.
Until you need it, that is...

@travelladiesapp For me — Penang, Malaysia.
Friends and people I talked to raved about how great it was.
I arrived and couldn’t wait to leave. I didn’t understand the draw and appeal (and still don’t).
But to each their own!
I love the little moments in life.
Like when I open Google Search in my phone to see my previously typed search I had forgotten about is, “did Steve Irwin and Charles Darwin own the same tortoise?”
Gave me a good laugh.
@betweenengland Typically you don’t have to worry about torrential downpours for long periods.
If it does rain, it pours for a short period then the sun comes out.
‼️FRIENDLY TRAVEL TIP‼️
Take part in community events and look for local meetups.
This is a great way to join in and learn what locals are like. You're sure to see the culture from a persective you wouldn't have otherwise!
#TravelConnections
The conversations people have (loudly) in public never cease to amaze me.
I'm all for speaking your mind, sharing personal stories, and having an opinion, but there are times and places for certain conversations.
But in the middle of a crowded coffee shop ain't it.
