What's the best medium for newsletter delivery? I'm convinced it's not e-mail. Never do I open up my e-mail inbox looking to spend 10-15 minutes thinking about abstract concepts.
@lennysan@kayvz What does the future of social look like? It seems like all the major platforms (except for TikTok) are on the decline, and platforms like BeReal never made as much of a dent as it seemed they might. If @kayvz was starting a social platform from scratch what would it have?
@NotionHQ do you have an eta when “Home” and the My Tasks tracker is going live to everyone? I’ve been refreshing Notion daily since it was announced a few weeks ago and still haven’t gotten it yet 🫠
I also asked it to have a basic, beginners level-Chinese conversation with me so I could improve my conversational Mandarin. It was a bit clunky but is helping me pick out tones in a natural conversation a million times better than any language learning app.
This was a fun one I discovered today. Currently I’m living in Taiwan with my family of 6 and our Mandarin Chinese is not great.
Using ChatGPT voice I asked ChatGPT to read me a story in beginners Chinese, and then to ask me comprehension questions one at a time.
@realGeorgeHotz@pmarca If healthcare is too cheap, then who will want to become doctors? If investigative journalism doesn’t pay, then who would do the investigating?
Not advocating for expensive healthcare, but in theory you would want to incentivize valuable jobs to attract the best talent, no?
@sarahtavel@lennysan Just wanted to say this episode was remarkably helpful and timely as we’re thinking about re-focusing our teams going into 2024.
I took about two pages of notes, but the parts around centering the team on a critical core action that drives value were huge. Thanks for the pod!
@petergyang Getting a restaurant in Tokyo as a party of 6 was awful though. Usually had to wait for half the restaurant to clear about before they could seat us.
@petergyang I have 4 kids and have been travelling through Asia over the past 3 months. Tokyo especially was tough because of the social pressure to be quiet, but it’s been a good balance of teaching my kids to respect people around them while not letting others’ expectations rule you
Time management is critical for building a successful company
As a founder your time is usually split up as
50% sales
50% marketing
50% product
50% support
50% recruiting
50% accounting
50% scrolling on X
50% on everything else
@DharamKapila@thekitze The trick is to tie it to an indispensable app. I’m abroad and use it to launch Google Translate’s camera app. Probably click it 3-4x a day
@petergyang Just want to say, I subscribed because of this edition. The 7 ways to improve the first-mile was hugely valuable (and cutting-off the free preview after the first 2 was really smart).
Thanks for the insights @scottbelsky
Here me out: @firefliesai has so much training data on how I talk and the way I make decisions in meetings I should be able to send in an AI proxy to take meetings on my behalf
