Spurs got a pretty incredible whistle tonight and a 7-25 shooting game from Brunson and still lost. That's tough.
Still, the way they played the final six minutes is the blueprint. Gotta play Harper in clutch time for the rest of the series IMO.
@Relax_B13 Yeah, I tend to agree he would have left anyway. In addition to his northeast and NYK ties, he's got a lot of confidence in himself and I suspect always knew he could thrive as "the" guy. Hard to imagine him staying on a team with Luka forever.
You know, it's quite possible to simultaneously believe that Jalen Brunson would have never been this good on the Mavs playing 1B to Luka, while also knowing that the Mavs FO handled his negotiations disastrously.
These ideas are not mutually exclusive, nor even in conflict.
@TravisRW its almost as if having the ability to put the ball in the basket at an ELITE level in the highest leverage moments is far and away the most valuable skill in the game.
Dirk > KG forever
@KirkSeriousFace Yessir, had a kiddo in Nov so been enjoying some time away from here. He quite righteously waited until Nico got canned to make his debut
Been a minute since I've been up to the school
Very much this.
Also, as we have seen time and time again of late, it is easier to get a roster with scorers to play credible defense when the playoffs hit than it is to expect bunch of non-scorers to score when the games really matter
I think, at the moment, where I settle is I need the Mavericks to be a less tough watch offensively. Cooper was fun, I get it, but the offensive output was a drag to watch and I bet the hardcore fans would agree.
OKC gets a lot of favors from the refs, but give them credit for scoring 118+ tonight and 123 in Game 3 despite two of their three main ballhandlers out injured. And the Spurs can defend
