On that note, do not rely just on Cision or Muck Rack! I always tell my #PR teams that those tools are a guide (that are likely outdated in a moving field), and they need to google the reporter, find their socials, look at recent stories, etc. to make sure they're a good fit.
I see this way too often - all #PR professionals should recognize that journalists are experts on their beat. Your pitch should reflect that and get straight to the point. Don't tie in some random observance or fact that they already know.
