Politicians will see a major problem, have a solution brought right to them, and still say “nah I’m good with keeping everything crappy”. The absolute worst
Imagine what it would take for you to accept a $800k per year reduction in your salary just so you didn’t have to work with the MSU board of trustees… I mean I would endure unscrupulous things for that kind of money, but apparently the BoT is worse than that
Repost this - I'll pick a winner and buy them a hat. Good news: @NudgePrinting has updated their shipping costs. If you buy $49 worth of merchandise, you pay $0 for shipping. Otherwise, it's just a flat $7 if you're just grabbing a t-shirt or a hat or something. Pretty good deal.
@Gr33n247@_TommyVercetti He was national association of basketball coaches player of the year his senior year, it’s absolutely wild the discourse now that he couldn’t score
If this happens it would have accidentally caused Izzo to have backed into a good offseason of roster construction lol. Get the best center for your team back with coop and bolstered your backup center position so we actually have depth there.
NCAA President Charlie Baker is pushing for the proposal to allow DI athletes five years of eligibility to be voted on as emergency legislation in May, with implementation the next month.
Baker is also in support of DI having a legal tampering window like we see in the NFL.
@SpartanHoops_DK@KalebCBSdaChamp Especially since I think Bonke has two years of eligibility left (not sure if that’s right). That means he can see the following year where he will presumably be the starter at center
@fears_burner @KalebCBSdaChamp@SpartanHoops_DK He’s a big man who needs time to grow (just like most people said cooper sucks when he was young). Jesse presents a decent skill set on offense to play the 4 in our system because he can shoot so can be a pick and pop or trail guy like kholer was. The issue is quickness/defense
@EricksonKiva@SpartanHoops_DK They already got an increase to 15 roster spots a few years ago which most teams don’t even fill. Portal is closed too so unless these 5th year players entered already their only options would be to go back to their same team or move on which reduces the number that come back
@KalebCBSdaChamp@SpartanHoops_DK Jesse and Ward would play the 4. Coop would start, Bonke would back him up, Taylor would get some spot minutes until he adjusts and starts earning more. This word because I think Bonke is a junior and Taylor was always viewed as a bit of a project
@GrfineAmerican@SpartanHoops_DK Transfer window is closed. Unless this proposal would open up a one time additional transfer window then nobody could transfer regardless unless they are already in the portal
@ACumbow Would have liked him to stay to give some experienced backup minutes at point so fears could rest more. I feel like fears wore down as the season went on, but I guess we are all in on the freshmen
@BrianJYoung1 Probably, and Izzo won’t do this, but if he were to push the issue legally he might get a judge to agree to it for this year. But Izzo won’t do that
Bringing back Coop was always the best answer:
- checks Izzo main boxes of high ball screen defense and rebounding
- already knows the system
- good screener
- just emerged offensively
- is primed to extend his range to 3’s next year
That’s as good as any transfer out there
NEW: The NCAA is exploring a 5-year eligibility window that could go into affect this summer.
But the question of grandfathering in athletes that just completed their 4th year leaves players and coaches in limbo🤔

@avidsportsrdr For what Izzo prioritizes - high hedge defense, rebound at all costs, outrun your man down the floor, relentless/selfless screening - he might be. Those are things most big men can’t or won’t do because of effort. Already knows the system and has come into his own offensively 🤷♂️
@k_sahadi Great questions that I don’t have the answer to. I suspect he would return (see Sheehan’s podcast interview + his growth story here probably gives him extra special attachment). I’m not saying it’s the most practical approach for roster building just the best outcome for MSU
@NotConnorCook18 Because we have viable options at the 4 with Ward and McCulloch (his game is suited better at the 4 right now and more easily replaces Kholer’s pick and pop and trail three roles) but nobody who is a true center like coop could be

Indiana currently has the No. 1 transfer portal class nationally in 2026 in BOTH football (left) and men’s basketball (right).
Sign of the times.
