For thousands of years, no textbook has documented what Munuren knows.

Walking through the forests of Khatanga Churdaag in #Jharkhand, she points out the

🌸mahua flower - good for eating, for medicine, for pickling, for income.

🌸The putkal, the tamarind, the chirayta.

She knows where each grows, when to harvest it, and what it heals.

She learned this from her mother.

Her mother learned it from hers.

Today she is teaching her daughter Amanati.

This is how indigenous forest knowledge survives, not in archives or research papers, but in a walk through the woods between a mother and her child.

While city children learn ecology from textbooks, Amanati is learning it from the forest itself and everything she learns, she can eat, heal with, or live on.
