Anthony Albanese admitted in Question Time today that he was wrong about the $6.05 million his government promised Marrickville Golf Club, in his own Sydney seat of Grayndler.
Opposition frontbencher Dan Tehan pressed him, and the Prime Minister said: "I have said that was not correct. It was not correct." Asked again, he said: "Yes, Mr Speaker, it was not correct to say that the federal grant would deal with the sewer row." He added that he had not known the NSW Government was already funding the sewage fix.
Labor then voted down a Coalition motion to make him explain. Nationals senator Bridget McKenzie says he misled parliament and must correct the record.
The admission was about a claim he made to the House in September, that the grant would fix septic tanks leaking raw sewage into the Cooks River in floods. At Senate estimates last night, Infrastructure Department official Jacinta McDonald said: "The sewerage works are not in the scope of this grant."
The money is going on a clubhouse refurbishment, a stormwater system, a botanical garden and an electrical upgrade. NSW is paying for the sewage fix separately with a $270,000 grant.
Mr Albanese held an undisclosed honorary membership of the club.

BUTTERBEAN KNOCKS ED WHITE CLEAN THROUGH THE ROPES IN LAS VEGAS
On April 12, 1997, Eric Butterbean Esch faced towering Ed White for the IBA super heavyweight title.
White used his seven-inch height advantage and long jab to control the early exchanges and keep Butterbean at bay.
The opening round stayed competitive as Ed White landed clean shots while Butterbean pressed forward undeterred.
In the second round Butterbean found his range with heavy overhand rights and looping hooks that staggered White.
A big right hand dropped Ed White early, and he rose with a look of resignation in his eyes.
Butterbean followed with a left-right combination that sent White tumbling through the ropes and out of the ring.
Referee Joe Cortez waved off the fight at 1:14, awarding Butterbean the TKO and retaining his title.

Europe has a migration problem, and it's an invasion. An invasion by a culture that seeks to destroy the West and is incompatible with Western values.
LONG LIVE FREEDOM, DAMN IT...!!!
