Societies past and present has viewed gold as a symbol of power, beauty, wealth, and accomplishment. It is used in objects that we highly value and hold in high regard.

Gold conducts electricity, does not corrode, it can be an alloy with other metals, it is easy to transform, such as being drawn into wires, hammered into sheets, and melted to form intricate pieces. It also has an attractive color and luster to it.

Even if evolution is not just about random chance, there is randomness and chance in evolutionary processes, because these concepts are part of our natural world. For instance, a larger population may split to two and one of these groups might be very small.
