@kjfeeley Frankly, a "properly" written letter focuses on the positive, while only peripherally acknowledging weaknesses. Anything with substantial (even constructive) criticism of the candidate causes problems. Most empathetic letter writers familiar with the system understand this.
Corporate forest soils colleague gave an excellent impromptu lecture on spodosols during a field trip this week. This was a Pomona series in north central Florida.
@ACsank I agree with other commenters. I don't see how it can ever reach critical mass with the invitation-only model. The barrier to entry is quite high. All that being said, I'm giving it a go.
@ScootJD My dad was my first family contact when I wanted to share a work thing. I'm a forestry professor and he was an accountant, but he cared and would take the time to understand. I miss that. Peace to you.
