And so, I will not applaud a culture that turns a blind eye to injustice.
I will not applaud a culture that is unmoved by death.
I will not applaud a culture that weds political power to the teachings of Christ in order to manipulate.

My hope and prayer is that we, as the Church, would not be defined by fear, division, or political battles, but by the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

The fruit that Jesus said we are to be known by is love. If our rhetoric online sounds more like a cultural war than a reflection of Christ’s love—especially if it neglects the voices of the oppressed and marginalized—then we are drifting from His example. That should alarm us.

When I look at Jesus, I see a man who brought opposites to the same table. One of His disciples was a tax collector who worked with the empire, and another was a zealot who wanted to overthrow it. Yet Jesus taught them to walk together, to see each other’s humanity.
