I was happy to contribute to @IPDefenseForum on the emerging security role of #Japan and how it’s shaping its defence architecture through international partnerships.
Japan is leveraging international collaboration to deepen deterrence and assert its role as a pillar of regional stability.

Closing 5 accession chapters today, Montenegro concludes a great year of progress for EU enlargement.
It is decisively accelerating its road to the EU.
To cross the finish line, reforms to support independence of courts, anti-corruption measures & free media must now intensify.
Another key step on Montenegro's EU path.
Today the 🇪🇺 & 🇲🇪 provisionally closed 5 negotiation chapters on:
🔸right of establishment & freedom to provide services
🔸free movement of capital
🔸company law
🔸agriculture & rural development

🤝 Head of the Mission of Ukraine to NATO, @getmalyona, together with Deputy Head of Mission Serhii Kulchytskyi and Head of the Political Section Oleksiy Genchev, discussed with representatives of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly @natopa the strengthening of interparliamentary ties between Ukraine and NATO member states.
💬“Sometimes what diplomats cannot do, MPs can — and, in the case of Ukraine, are already doing. Within the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Ukraine is already considered not just a partner country, but as a candidate country,” said Head of Mission.
Alyona Getmanchuk also expressed her gratitude for the consistently strong and timely response of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly — in particular its President, @MarcosPerestre1 — to each brutal attack by Russia on Ukrainian cities.
@KyivPost But wasn’t it Putin who wanted to get to Kyiv so badly? They should have the meeting in Kyiv instead. I’m sure he has nothing to be afraid of.
Putin wants the war to continue.
While #Ukraine seeks peace, #Russia’s continued attacks on Kyiv have directly hit @EUDelegationUA.
The diplomatic mission was attacked in clear violation of the Vienna Convention, which protects diplomats & premises.
Meanwhile, there’s no progress in the peace negotiations & Russians are doing everything to sabotage it.
The US & EU must step up pressure on Russia: impose further sanctions & ramp up Ukraine’s defences.
@McFaul NATO’s Article 5 is already shaky - and under Trump, US commitment to defend Allies has little credibility. A ‘non-NATO Article 5’ would be even weaker & less binding.
The second lie is that Putin invaded because of NATO. This is nonsense spread by old men and crack pots. Putin’s own essays give the real reason. Nato was on only 6% of Russia borders pre-22. This is about Putin’s warped view of history. 6/9
2. We must be careful that “Security Guarantees” are not the goal in themselves they must be guarantees that protect a “just” peace acceptable to Ukraine as well. NOT Putin’s idea of peace where he concedes nothing. 2/9
@front_ukrainian This is nonsense. First, Putin does not have a strong record of respecting his own constitution. Second, Russia does not consider Ukraine to be European, which means this reasoning does not prevent Moscow from attacking Ukraine again.
@KyivPost Great news. We need to have a united front to tell Trump that we don’t want his and Putin’s nonsensical shenanigans & would be ready to support Ukraine whatever it takes.
