Thanks to those who report on complicated, jargon-filled areas like energy & make a genuine effort to appreciate many people don’t understand the terminology. It’s a relief when assumed knowledge is ditched in favour of plain language & simple story-telling that truly informs.
It is important to think about how we build really rich feedback loops for early career teachers, so that they can become the best version of themselves, not the second-best version of someone else’s version of a teacher https://t.co/o8iUrXzyh9
The truth of school and student performance is not told by HSC league tables, they do not speak of growth, opportunity, rigour nor diversity. These, not Bands or ATARs, are the markers of success of our children.

Binaries simplify arguments, but wash out the nuance and complexity of what high functioning classrooms look like. This piece from @Jennygore4 shines that light brightly https://t.co/rtZ9gKz6PF
The questions of productivity and time will always plague teaching, but unless we challenge some assumptions about school and teacher work there will be few answers https://t.co/PBKQa3kfDK
No-one could or should argue remote schooling is a better model but if the only conversation is about a binary of face-to-face vs online, I think we are missing the point as a profession. https://t.co/9URAcQFPoM
An exciting day! For years I have taught how ue can theoretically fall at the same time that the number of people employed falls, and now it is our reality. Sad though, that it is our reality.

@cpaterso The self styled change makers with their educational silver bullets are worthwhile being wary of, alongside those that divorce evidence from practice in their writing….
@chriscawsey I have to trust that policy decisions are made with the best interests of kids at heart, and not rushed for the sake of media pressure. Globally, there are lots of precedents out there of clever solutions in odd times, that supported students at the final hurdle.
For NSW teachers (as it has been for so many educators in so many places) managing fatigue for our students entering their fifth week of restrictions and lockdowns will be key to supporting them in the weeks ahead.
In a time when schools and teachers are being reactive in the challenges of lockdowns, it is more important to find space to give thought to what's next. https://t.co/jz4555WRJf
I hope that NSW teachers and schools are looking at the challenge of back to remote learning with optimism. We are asking our students to Be Organised, Be Ready, Be Respectful and Be Productive in their synchronous environment.
The question is as to how much early career teachers are supported by their immersion and induction into schools, not the length of ITE programs, as a measure of their long term success. https://t.co/LHynBSk72d
While the community's view of assessment continues to be a judgment of a student at a point in time educators will struggle to make its explicit focus informing future student learning. Repositioning the role assessment for the community is key https://t.co/0mL5mOQYLn
