A gallant freedom fighter, pioneer and veteran of the liberation struggle, Cde Chakabva passed away on 6 July 2021. He was survived by wife Esther and four children.

Cde Chakabva whose nom de guerre was “Cde Vhuu” was born on 27 June 1943 in Murombedzi District, Chinhoyi to Mandeya Chakabva and Sarah Chakabva (nee Mapfumo).
