Before ‘Street Sweeper’ was released, the original music video was filmed with a proper budget and rented cameras, dollies, a full team, and a full day of production behind it. Everything had been captured but when JMSN received the film, there was one major issue: he wasn’t in focus. The entire video had to be scrapped.

After taking that loss (which was monumental at the time) and trying to maneuver on how to move forward, JMSN stumbled into a pawn shop on an off day and found an old VHS camera. That moment sparked what would become the Blue Album’s lo-fi VHS videos — instead of trying to recreate the original production, he would strip it down and shoot the video himself with little to no budget, using only what was around him. ‘Street Sweeper’ was then filmed in JMSN’s living room with a few friends, cheap lighting, and pure creative instinct.

What started as a setback became the thing that gave the album its identity. The VHS texture, the movement, the lighting, and even the moment when A, JMSN’s dog, walked into frame — everything fell into place naturally, like it was meant to happen that way.

The only shot used from the original production was the solo shot. Everything else came from the VHS camera and the creative reset that followed. Sometimes the mistake becomes the direction.
