You don’t need to feel guilty for taking a day to rest every week.
It is ironic we feel guilty for taking a Sabbath when the command to remember the Sabbath is the longest of the Ten Commandments, and God made Sabbath for our good.
Enjoy it.
A lot of us have the question - Why would a good God allow suffering?
Good Friday responds by giving us another question - Why would a good God choose to suffer for us?
The Bible doesn’t say that love is God. It says God is love.
Seems to suggest that our definitions of love are to be defined by God, not the other way around.
I’m quite confident God can use you too- because you are beautifully and wonderfully made to showcase something about God to the world.
God isn’t surprised by who He calls, and He’s not limited by your weakness.
That thing you’re insecure about is certainly not more powerful than what Jesus did on the cross and what He’s done throughout history.
If Jesus rose from the dead, surely He can use people who may not be the most well-spoken, attractive, or charismatic.
Whether your insecurities are based on your skill level, age, gender, religious heritage (or lack thereof), your past, your knowledge level, or something else - God is not surprised by who He calls.
He used Paul who had previously persecuted Christians.
He used Timothy, who had to be reminded to not let others look down upon him because he was young (1 Tim. 4:12).
He used Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Salome, Mary the Mother of James, and several other women to be the first ones to proclaim Jesus’s resurrection despite the fact that their testimony would not have been valid in court because they were women (Mark 16:1-8, Luke 24:9-10).
He used Moses who was “not very good with words” and had killed a man (Ex. 2:12 & 4:10).
He used a Samaritan woman who would have been looked down upon by most Jews for numerous reasons (John 4:1-42).
He used Peter who denied Him multiple times.
Calling someone “a man of his times” doesn’t mean their actions were any less wicked.
It just means they participated in wickedness that was widespread.
When we quickly assume that people presently experiencing pain, grief, or heartache are lacking in faith, I fear we miss an important tenet of the Christian faith- that there is a God who willingly entered into pain on our behalf and is with us still.

In the gospels you rarely see Jesus upset with "sinners." Rather, what you see is Jesus upset with people who don't think they are sinners.

If you know you are Beloved of God, you can live with an enormous amount of success and an enormous amount of failure without losing your identity, because your identity is that you are the Beloved.
- Henri Nouwen.
Did someone not catch how inappropriate that was? Commenting on men’s bodies and “patting” men down like that without consent is not ok to joke about #Oscars
“Our temptation is to give people sound-bite theology. But that is a mistake. What we see in today’s culture is a deep curiosity. A longing for long-form content around heavy ideas of existential reality.”@markaclark https://t.co/X6Kk50gbD0 via @cnieuwhof
