@defense_of_fam I agree. But I think that there could be reasons even in the US where the wife keeping her maiden name can be a positive. All of my daughters took there husband's name. But had they not, I would have asked the why.

Also, keeping the maiden name is easier for family history.

I am sure there are things she has done that I didn't thank her for, but at least I have shown my gratitude to her once each day.
