she sat on a kitchen stool, her elbows resting on the cool counter, watching him work. "can you add extra honey, please?" she asked with a slight smile.

watching him stand up, katniss thought for a moment or two before answering.

“ I'll come with.”

she’d rather be by his side than be alone. sure, it’d only be for a few moments, but still.

kat joins him in the kitchen as he prepares tea for both of them, following his lead.+

lips pressed to her temple as he stood up .

“ you wanna stay here , or do you wanna come with .ᐣ ”

he always offered . he didn’t like to be alone much anymore , but if she wanted to keep her distance , he would always understand . —-

small grin formed on her tired-looking face.

it always seemed like he knew what to say or do at just the right time. he was good at that. staying on her knees she leans up narrowly to press her lips gently to his chin.

she lets her touch linger before she pulls back away.

a nice, hot cup of tea sounded heavenly. just what she needed to calm her nerves. it’s what her mother would always make her when she was upset.

nibbling her bottom lip in thought, she shakes her head in agreement.

she’d always be worried about him, especially after all the things they’ve gone through in their lifetime.

she was always somewhat on edge.

her fingers lightly traced circles atop his kneecaps.

as he pressed his lips to her palm, her cheeks flushed a light shade of pink. “alright, if you say so..” her words trailed off softly.

her hands placed themselves atop of his knees.

“how ‘bout a drink?” sure, he said he was alright but that didn’t mean she still worried. +

she nodded in agreement. They were safe now. no more games, and no more snow.

taking a deep breath, she softened against his gentle caresses. wiping away the last of his blood, she sets the wet rag aside and uses a dry one to dry up the areas it touched.

she finished up with everything. he was okay. It was just a bloody nose like he had said. although his poor nose was already starting to bruise from the force of the branch's blow.

her hand came up to caress the side of his face, her head tilting slightly in adoration.

her voice was barely audible, and it sounded as if she was almost ashamed of what she was saying. sighing softly, she leaned up and gently began wiping blood from his nose with the warm, wet cloth. her touch — delicate.

after they returned to the town, katniss took him to the couch and asked him to sit. she quickly went to the bathroom to get a damp cloth to clean him up. when she returned, she knelt in front of him and said,

katniss sighed softly as he pressed a kiss to her head, grounding her.

“ let me clean you up. “

she insists, pulling back to look up at him and his dripping nose. her fingertips stained in his red color. it would make her feel better if he’d let her do so.
