Every visit to this quaint shop is like hitting refresh on your 'why' as a designer. Basheer Graphics in Bras Bassah has long deserved this showcase by #designsingaporecouncil
And I hope it brings more footfalls to preserve this jewel of a place

2. When designing for AI, we may consider 2 key areas:
'Generation' - to give the person using the product a starting point
'Automation' - to reduce the mundane work so that the person can focus on a higher level of abstraction.
That's what Figma seems to have done.
Besides the product upgrades, some of my oblique takeaways after attending @figma Config 2024, Singapore:
1. We must look at AI as 'Augmented Imagination' rather than Artificial Intelligence to see it in the right context of how it can help us - Jordan Singer @jsngr
May be we can stretch the boundaries of #HumanCenteredDesign and explore '#Coexistence Centered #Design'. How might we build products and infra that improve our co-existence with those we share the planet with?

A compelling argument for continuously questioning and assessing the design processes based on the situation, rather than blindly following them.

The problem is not people being uneducated.
The problem is that people are educated just enough to believe what they have been taught, and not educated enough to question anything from what they have been taught. 🧠
@sarahdoody Understanding the design maturity of the organisation (and of those who didn’t directly interview you) to understand which skills will have a higher role. Since one can be a strong designer contributor but weak at advocating design culture, or vice versa.

Well this was eye-opening. I’ve mostly only focussed on ‘gender’, ‘age’ & ‘domain knowledge’ amongst research participants to cover diverse view points. May be I missed a mark there.
Not sure if it makes a dent in overcoming the challenges women founders face, but nevertheless a notable initiative by the VC world.

A web hostile to women and girls keeps them from earning, learning, leading & making their voices heard.
It's a direct threat to progress on gender equality.
On #InternationalWomensDay and every day, we must fight for equality, online and offline.

If you are a #designer not *actively* educating yourself about people of colour and trans, disabled, queer and poor folks then I have bad news.
You are not #humancentred.
Because guess what? You can't learn about systemic cultural power imbalance through usability testing.
Insightful. My key takeaways
- get true feedback from customer (not friends)
- user behaviour speaks louder than words
- solve for the bottom of the pyramid
