Here's a fun set of examples illustrating Lee Kuan Yew Libertarianism:

Prostitution is technically legal in Singapore, but just about everything related to it, from online arrangement making, to pimping, to of course, street solicitation is completely illegal. The State has decided that it can't really ban what women decide to do to themselves, but it can refuse to let anyone be a gross nuisance about it.

Public drinking is also legal in Singapore - but not from 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, where it becomes illegal everywhere, and shops cannot sell alcohol for takeaway, and is always illegal on public transit (and both Geylang and Little India have *earlier* cut off times).

Gambling is legal in Singapore, but only as 'integrated resort' operations, limited to a number of hotels which are licensed, and designated *rooms* with slot machines for certain societies explicitly named by a public act.

So, one could actually get up to a lot more trouble and vice in Singapore than in, say, Tennessee, which is dry by default, and where prostitution is banned, and which restricts almost every form of betting.

Yet somehow, Singapore is a lot more prim and proper and persnickety than Memphis or Knoxville.

That is Lee Kuan Yew Libertarianism.
