Over the past 4 years, we took many first steps and leaps of faith.
I remember long discussions about how to show a society pouring out from its frozen shelter into the frostland - how to depict the organic sprawl and scale of a city that survived. From the start, we knew the small village from FP wasn’t enough; we had to reinvent our approach to city-building.
We also worried about how well we could show how social rules, driven by ambition and conviction, impact individuals. I’m glad many players see this impact and feel it even more deeply than in FP1.
Our biggest fear, of course, was whether we’d disappoint our most loyal fans. And apparently, we did disappoint some of them. I’ve read all the negative reviews, and there’s great feedback there that we will humbly implement step by step. Except for the feedback that the game is great but not so much at the same time because it’s not FP1. Not recommend — that one fries my brain 🤡. I guess we didn’t make it clear enough that #Frostpunk2 wasn’t just going to be a slightly better #Frostpunk 1, but a completely different game - that’s on us.
But I’ve also read the positive reviews, and that’s where I felt the most relief - seeing so many of you say FP2 exceeded your expectations! Thank you for appreciating our courage and creativity in a time when it’s so easy to take shortcuts. It makes all the creative struggles we went through worthwhile. And thanks for all the positive reviews (hoping for even more 😉).
Reading comments appreciating what we did with Frostpunk 2 truly makes all of our efforts worth it 🖤
If you can, consider leaving us a review! It makes all the difference.
With over 350k+ copies sold, we are both humbled and thrilled by how well Frostpunk 2 was received by the media, with 86 Metacritic score, but most importantly - by so many of you.
We knew that taking Frostpunk 2 in a direction not everyone expected would push the boundaries of what a sequel could be. We’re extremely proud of what we’ve accomplished and, with your feedback, will continue to improve the game with upcoming hotfixes and patches.
It was always our intention to create a unique experience, a game that could co-exist with the original in the world of Frostpunk with something new and meaningful to say. We didn’t want it to become just a better-looking copy - at the same time, we invite the community to have fun with the FrostKit modding tool, to make their visions a reality.
We believe that the first Frostpunk stands the test of time and is still enjoyed by many. That’s also one of the reasons why, with Frostpunk 2, we aimed to deliver something different, that isn’t just “Frostpunk 1.5”. It’s heartwarming to see how many of you enjoy where we took the franchise. It would mean a lot to us if you could take a moment of your time to leave a review.
We appreciate your support!
