ASTONISHING: CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das still in judicial custody for trespass and violation of prohibitory orders while waving the tricolour at Jantar Mantar (not an act of violence by any reckoning), and Hindu Raksha Dal members who were caught on camera beating protestors out on bail (an act of brazen goondaism). Yeh hai kanoon??😡
Businesses do not suffer because of peaceful protests. They suffer when the govt decides to shut down an entire city, suspend internet services and restrict the movement of its own citizens and turn the city into a war-zone.
Since its inception, the Cockroach Janta Party has maintained that we will always follow Gandhi’s path of peace and non-violence, and we have stood by that commitment. We have organised protests in Mumbai, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bengaluru and Nagpur, and every single one of them has been peaceful. I was personally assaulted in Jaipur, but even then, I chose not to retaliate because responding to violence with violence goes against everything we believe in. We would rather exercise the rights guaranteed to us by the Constitution, drafted under the leadership of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, than resort to physical force. Our strength comes from our commitment to constitutional values, and no amount of provocation will make us abandon them.
Despite this, there are constant attempts to portray us as anarchists simply because we refuse to remain silent. But demanding answers from the govt is not anarchy, protesting against injustice on the streets is not anarchy, and questioning those who hold public office is certainly not anarchy. These are the most fundamental expressions of democracy. The very party that is in power today spent decades organising protests, taking to the streets and questioning the governments of the day when it was in opposition. Had the same restrictions, intimidation and police crackdowns been used against them, many of those who occupy positions of power today might never have reached where they are. It is deeply hypocritical to celebrate protests as a democratic right when you are in opposition and treat the same act as a threat to public order when you come to power.
We are not asking for privileges or special treatment. We are simply asking to exercise the rights that belong to every citizen of this Republic, irrespective of which party is in power. So let us fulfil our duty as citizens of this country by questioning those we elect, demanding accountability and speaking up whenever we witness injustice.
A govt that has been elected by the people is bound to listen to the people, not silence them. Democracy does not end once the votes have been counted.
The sequence of events at Mandir Marg Police Station today raises serious concerns about the deliberate delays and miscommunication surrounding the release of Saurav and Ashutosh.
Despite completing all the required procedures for their release, the final document needed to move the process forward was not initiated in time.
Here is how the events unfolded -
First, without informing us, 17 October was entered as the date for an update on the verification of the local Delhi sureties. When we questioned the authorities about why the process would take so long, the date was removed.
What makes this even more concerning is that, around 3 PM, we had already been told that everything was sorted and that we could leave. However, when we received no further update, we returned to Mandir Marg Police Station with the lawyer concerned, only to discover what had happened.
We raised our objections and pointed out that this was wrong. When the SEM could not come to sign the document, we suggested that the reader go and obtain the signature instead. That, too, was eventually done.
Yet, when the document finally reached Parliament Street Police Station for the release process to move forward, the SHO was not present.
At every stage, a new hurdle emerged, even after the necessary procedures had been completed. The repeated delays, lack of communication and failure to move the final document forward raise serious questions about why Saurav and Ashutosh were still not being released.
The government must understand that such tactics, which affect people's personal liberty, do not go unnoticed. People can see what is happening. No amount of delay, miscommunication or procedural hurdles will stop citizens from raising their voices against injustice.
The alleged misuse of power in a bailable offence, especially when the required procedures have been followed, is unacceptable. Personal liberty cannot be treated as a favour, nor should administrative processes become a means of prolonging someone's detention.
The cockroaches across this country will continue to speak up. We will raise our voices against injustice, question the misuse of authority and stand up for the fundamental rights and dignity of every citizen.
Silence is not an option when personal liberty is at stake.
Tomorrow at 10AM, me, @SauravDassss, @whattalawyer and other CJP leaders will go to Parliamentary Street Police Station to get a date for a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar.
@DelhiPolice can give us a date for Jantar Mantar in 24 hours, or we will give another protest call ourselves.
@Cockroachisback
@itsaniruddharoy@D_Krati So what if we are getting lower rois in loans? It is already included in our gross salary & we are paying taxes
Tell your governing body to include some benefits to you as well 🤷
@itsaniruddharoy@D_Krati It is common sense to compare with RBI as it is the regulatory body of the banking sector
Just like the insurance sector, irdai and lic both have 5 days of service, then why this discrimination in case of banking sector only? 🤷
@itsaniruddharoy@D_Krati You can call for universal no Saturday offs for everyone including RBI NABARD DFS etc. Banking is not emergency services that you compare it with healthcare or police, and yes if you also want all Saturday Sunday offs for emergency sector, then call for more recruitment , simple
If Gyanesh Kumar does not resign by tomorrow, CJP will begin its nationwide protest from Mumbai on 2 October, and take it to cities across India.
This Gandhi Jayanti let’s pledge to save democracy.
