@ECloskyWTSP@TheELBushman@BleacherReport@Sean_SmythTBR@iAmNickWize Too much risk for a guy with elbow issues. And this isn't Shohei. Not trading that level of prospect.
More likely? Get Peralta for low price if believe he will pitch better outside of NY. Or a trade of that ilk.
@jakelarsen I think Melton & 1 of Larnach/Nootbar takes care of the outfield and they can play matchup ball. Regardless of Lux, I'm all for Arraez. There just isn't a big bat available it seems--so lean into platoon & contact emphasis.
#Rays trade targets:
RP - Luke Weaver (Mets) - he's AL East tested
SP - Reid Detmers (Angels) - they've liked him for a while
Bat - Luis Arraez (Giants) - best bat available at a position of need, matches offensive contact philosophy
#Rays offense would sure look different if it still had Arozarena, Paredes and B Lowe.
They have never replaced these bats. Paredes is the only one with positional challenge. This deadline is all about still trying to find replacements for Arozarena and Lowe.
@ltw0303@RaysBaseball Brody Hopkins and Ty Johnson will still determine this.
Though, how different would this offense be if they kept Arozarena, Paredes and B Lowe.
My #Rays trade deadline goal: Seiya Suzuki & Luis Arraez
With the call-up of Jacob Melton, that would be quite the lineup upgrade
Arraez
Diaz
Aranda
Caminero
Suzuki
Melton
Simpson
C
SS
#RaysDraft2026 Since the #Rays have the number 2 pick and one of the 3 largest(@jjcoop36 inform me if I'm wrong ) bonus pools, how the #Rays pick us related to the 1-1 pick, but if the Rays are able to draft one of these listed players, who would you choose? Why?
This is the type of stuff outfielder #Rays need to develop and soon.
A 2028 core of Caminero, Aranda, Gillen, Melton, Simpson, Gray, Bodine, etc has massive potential
Some good platoon options, rotation options if still healthy by end of year (Martinez-Jax).
But flaws not going away without upgrades & will lead to slumps throughout the year when not firing on all cylinders.
Need 1 more legitimate bat at 2B or SS, maybe 1 SP if good enough.
#Rays are good but flawed team. Offense can go cold & tank a week of games. Rotation is battling injuries & shows signs of wear on back end. Bullpen slowly yet surely rounding into form.
But have legitimate top 3 (Diaz-Aranda-Caminero), game 1 & 2 starters (Shane-Ras).
