Translational Research in Immunosenescence, Gerontology and Geriatrics (TRIGG) at Ghent University/Ghent University Hospital. Triggering a healthy old age.
Our GOM (Geriatricians-on-the-Move) model is receiving global recognition in a prestigious Lancet journal! 📰 This marks an important step in our shared mission towards sustainable care for older people 🌍❤️.https://t.co/076T7XWmcN
🎉 Out of 80 European submissions, TRIGG is excited to be part of the ENLIGHT GRANTS! 💪 Together with other universities we’ll be working on research on healthy aging for the coming years: welcome to REACT (Research and Education in Ageing Collaborative Team). 🌱👵#ENLIGHTGRANTS
🧬💪The SaMu Study: Exploring Connections Between the Salivary Microbiome and Accelerated Muscle Aging. TRIGG researchers are leading the way in uncovering links between the salivary microbiome and sarcopenia. Discover how our work: https://t.co/HrtzM6pE6r #sarcopenia#saliva

TRIGG researcher Liesbeth participated in the EUREKA International Summer Course on Translational Medicine in Utrecht. It was a fascinating interaction with a multidisciplinary character in which challenges within translational research were discussed in depth.

The article 'Peptidomics: LC-MS operational parameters do matter' presents the results, as well as innovative approaches for each step.
Congratulations to Amélie, the TRIGG team, and the DruQuaR team! https://t.co/GxwkPEMJ5J
Together with the DruQuaR lab, we examined crucial analytical steps for peptide detection in biological matrices such as human blood. Quorum Sensing Peptides were used as a model, which occur in very low concentrations in biological matrices and are associated with sarcopenia.
New exciting results has been published in Biomolecules. Our data are the first evidence indicating the potential of biologically relevant quorum-sensing peptides to modulate the immune system. https://t.co/Orc0tyHGdD
Our Anton De Spiegeleer won the Faculty PhD Thesis Prize 2021-2022 for Clinical and Translational Science. His work about the mechanisms of sarcopenia was much appreciated by the jury. A motivation for all TRIGG-researchers to build further on translational sarcopenia research.
We recently had the opportunity to visit the Mobility Center at the prestigious Felix Platter Hospital in Basel, Switzerland. This hospital specializes in providing care for older adults. The Mobility Center is designed to evaluate older adults for fall risk and gait abnormalitie

Previous week TRIGG-members Nele Van Den Noortgate and Anton De Spiegeleer were in Nice with the European Academy for Medicine of Aging (EAMA). With more than 60 ambitious European geriatricians they learned about innovations in geriatrics and how to communicate ageing research
