Isn’t the problem with so these open source models that AI is lots a technology than a lab-grown biological agent. The labs don’t control what they grow. We are already seeing this with the small number of LLMs. What happens when they proliferate? I see a future where we have AI hunters trying to put these monsters back into a box.

The top 1% pay a far lower tax rate than the next 10% because their taxes are overwhelmingly in capital gains. You could make the tax system fair by taxing capital gains at the same rate as you tax wages. I make a good wage, and it kind of infuriates me that I pay a greater percentage of my income in taxes than Jeff Bezos. And that is without counting the amount that he borrows to live off of rather than spend of his assets, or the stepped-up basis that he will give to his children.

As a moderate Democrat, I agree with all of this. I think in addition to that, they could focus on deficit reduction by pegging the capital gains tax to income tax rates for income, getting rid of the stepped up basis for inherited assets (which is currently highway robbery), and adequately funding the IRS to do its job. The .1% will not like these, but virtually everyone else will see them as eminently fair, and it will help solve the inequality problem that we have. And it will cut the deficit in half.

This isnt an accurate description of Democrats. Equating DSA positions with Dems is like equating the freedom caucus to republicans. The policies you listed are minority policies in the dem party. What unites Dems? Corruption. Iran. Unlawful ICE actions. What unites GOP? Trump.

All of the frontier LLMs have asked for regulation before. It’s actually logical, and it’s less anti-competitive than it is about preempting liability issues. If they have government regulations, they are protected as long as they follow them. Without government regulations, the courts will be a wild West. Don’t understand how people can’t understand this, especially in the wake of huggy face.
