Because the "law enforcement" bureaucracy is set up to enforce only *some* laws against *some* people and acts itself as an undemocratic force to protect wealth aggregations, it is entirely ill-equipped (and uninterested) in being a bulwark against fascism.
The point of Roberts not telling us what "unofficial" or "official" actually means is that it gives him leeway to make it up later, depending on who wins the next election.
Per usual, I see a lot of people say “free Congo” as an add on to being called out for only caring about one cause at a time, but there’s rarely any information being shared about what’s happening in the DRC. so I will attempt to coherently explain (a 🧵):
Just an FYI for people referencing the Civil Rights Movement as the ideal and legal means of protesting, students sitting in at lunch counters, in movie theaters, in bus terminals and marching in public parks were violating laws and ordinances and agents of the state were also called out to violently suppress these protests.
There are snipers on the roof of the school where I got my MA.
There are police beating students at the school where I got my PhD.

DEI is not the reason why you presume Black people aren’t qualified. Racism is the reason. And a need to believe a Black person could not possibly do better than you. I know it and you know it, too.
(1/2) We must question the moral fitness of any lawmaker, sitting or aspiring, who, whether by willful or abject ignorance, doesn’t name that slavery was the leading cause of the Civil War - especially if they once governed a state that literally named preservation of chattel slavery as their reason for seceding from the Union and leading a traitorous and bloody insurrection.
At the same time, we must be cognizant of the fact that mass incarceration is a modern form of slavery and Joe Biden and the Democrats 1994 Crime Bill ultimately acted as slave catchers that still has a deleterious impact on Black and Brown families 30 years later. The white “supremacy” ideology that fueled chattel slavery is the same ideology that fuels mass incarceration, and the same ideology that fuels the #duopoly.
