Let me get this straight…

The City of Regina was close to finalizing negotiations on a second Costco location (Yay! Love Costco) and then the Sask. Party undercut their bid to try to force the location into the GTH.

Now, the city has to pay nearly $7 million of your money to keep the Costco.

The Sask. Party’s games with the GTH know no bounds.

They risked Costco and they wasted your money. Shameful.

With devastating tariffs on steel and aluminum expected today, it’s clearer than ever that Donald Trump only cares about Americans. He doesn’t care about what’s good for North America — he talked openly again yesterday about making Canada the 51st state.

We’re not a state. We’re a nation. We’re Canada. And it’s clear that we cannot rollover to his every demand. Not when Canadian jobs and sovereignty are being threatened.

Workers, producers and families gathered at the dinner table are going to feel the negative impact of these tariffs.

We have to fight back.

I am calling today for three things:

➡️That the Saskatchewan legislature be recalled so we debate and develop the best response to the Trump tariff threat.

➡️That we immediately respond to any tariff on steel and aluminum with a retaliatory tariff on the same products coming from the U.S.

➡️That provincial and national leaders come together immediately to build an energy corridor running all the way to Canada’s east coast. We have oil products coming in on our East Coast from Saudi Arabia, Nigeria, and the United States.  That’s a reality, while we have world-class and landlocked products right here on the prairies.

This is a crisis of the highest order.

We need to be focused on the future. We need to be ready to protect Saskatchewan and Canadian jobs and industries and protect Canadian energy security.
