Grenada Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell has defended Caricom after PM Kamla Persad-Bissessar criticised the bloc for failing to support T&T and Guyana in the face of threats from Venezuela. He said on the contrary, Caricom served a key role in quelling tensions between Venezuela and Guyana.

Guyana's President Dr Irfaan Ali says regional security and challenges affecting the Caribbean region will be on the agenda during his meeting with US President Donald Trump in Florida come March 7th. Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar earlier said only Guyana and T&T would be invited from Caricom. Additionally, President Ali welcomed the PM's support of Guyana against any threat from neighouring Venezuela. However, he declined to comment further on her speech where she was critical of Caricom during the opening ceremony for the 50th Heads of Government meeting yesterday.
