Are we going to start witch hunting people who don’t draw furries, any form of NSFW, male characters, or gore next?
Just wondering.
I think a lot of people are overlooking something important in these call out posts about artists who don’t draw homosexual couples. There can be many personal reasons why someone chooses not to.
Some artists live in countries where LGBTQ+ expression is restricted or even punishable, so creating that kind of art could put them at risk. Others may come from religious or cultural backgrounds where drawing romantic or same-sex couples conflicts with their beliefs or community expectations. (Btw based off context clues this specific artist may be in a Muslim community)
Some just prefer to stay within familiar subjects or styles, focusing on what they enjoy or feel confident representing.
Not every artistic choice is a statement or a reflection of bias. Sometimes it’s simply a matter of comfort, safety, or personal boundaries. (We love personal boundaries in this space——-I thought..)
Art is a personal form of expression, and assuming intent based on what someone doesn’t draw can be unfair.
I personally will draw just about anything except a man’s private part simply because I don’t want to look up references on my computer and I’m a prude :)
