Before his name or the situations surrounding his birth were mentioned, the Bible first described him as an honourable man.

There are, obviously, many more lessons to learn from Jabez, such as the strong complementary link of interest between his life of honour and prayer.

The Lord came in the opening charge to remind us of the power and importance of prayer(bending knees), as seen in the lives of Elijah and David.

James 5:17: “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land

And He answered him, ‘Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.’” David sought the Lord before taking action, demonstrating the necessity of prayerful inquiry before setting our "running feet" into motion.
