This is for documenting the unknowns. The small creators who haven't gotten their grift off the ground & think that, to get a studio job or a publishing deal, they just have to erase old tweets and pretend they never had their GG2 beliefs.
Oops, the internet's forever!
this account is now an account dedicated to archiving and cataloguing words spoken by people online :)
hope you're ready to stand by them when you try to get a pub deal or your work funded 2 years from now baybeee
@lserkuromi I really appreciate that, and I really hate how the online discourse around this has evolved because there's so much context that is missing! Especially why Black Americans get really hostile when being referred to as "just Americans."
@lserkuromi Personally, I think so! But that's me. I don't have that AAVE has gone global. What upsets a lot of us is that many people don't actually understand that it originated from an exploited, marginalized and discriminated against part of American society.
@lserkuromi Oh! That's really interesting. I'm also sorry I have been harsh and defensive in my comments. But it really is that profound and it's hard to explain that without getting into the history of White American racism against Black Americans.
@lserkuromi To me, its similar to calling Amazigh words from North Africa "French lingo" just because France colonized Algeria. AAVE is not the same language that White Americans speak because we were segregated from them due to racism. And AAVE evolved out of that segregation.
@lserkuromi Imagine people taking French music, movies, art, and completely stripping it of context and attributing these cultural creations to a class of people who have spent centuries exploiting you. I imagine French Algerians probably can sympathize with Black Americans in this way.
@lserkuromi So when we see our slang being flung around online and stripped of its origin - reframed as Gen Z lingo - it echoes our long history of having our music and dance stolen & reproduced by nonblack bodies without us getting any credit or recognition, much less monetary compensation.
