After weeks of trial & error with the right sized cables/cable management and figuring out the right resistor for the LED, I finally modified the nespi 4 case to work on my PS4 to run digital games from “carts” on SSD drives! Thanks to my bro @tripleoxygen for all the help!
@viperbjk care to fix a little bug on RevSkills? ;) I still use it up to this day (got a license circa 2011), but this minor issue sure is annoying sometimes. I know it's quite old by now, but it might be easy fix if you still can get it to compile.
@lord_friky I usually replace it with a microSD card slot (with a >= 1 GB card), so it's quicker/easier to insert/backup content or replace it if the card dies.
@lord_friky@PlayStationHaX but sure, what is needed to mantain one? I may give a try, there is a bunch of info on my wiki (I'm the founder of the OpenZeebo project and has been researching the platform since 2011).
@lord_friky@PlayStationHaX as for HB dev, never did anything "fun" (didn't like BREW lol). Most of my work was doc'ing/reverse engineering to enable everyone to create their own content. Sadly, no one got interested. All I've done natively was a lame intro (https://t.co/GwN9KU4K93) and a backup tool. lol
@lord_friky Yeah, it's possible and correct, you can solder a new eMMC (that's a service I offer here in Brazil, for rescuing dead Zeebos, along with homebrew unlocking). Internal files are not encrypted, they are the same on every console.
@lord_friky It is. It's using Qualcomm's BREW licensing/security. To become an official developer, you needed to sign up with TecToy and QC (for a fee) to receive a test certificate (for running code on console) and the device unlock key to use the diagnostic port (and use debug tools, etc)
@lord_friky Before restoring it, the diag port key file shall be erased from EFS, or you'll lost access to the console, since it'll boot directly to Z-Wheel with the port locked and you won't be able to reach Appmgr again to active it manually. In that case, only via JTAG to get in again.
@lord_friky Use the AUXSETTINGS app, go to Diag port and map it to USB SER 1. Your diag port will be enabled. The drivers can be found at this link https://t.co/Nyo6GCGQaX (haven't tested on other OSs other than Win XP and 7). More info at https://t.co/UqF53G05Sr (only portuguese, sorry)
@lord_friky hey. This is the BREW's Appmgr. The console fallback to this screen whenever the main UI (Z-Wheel) can't be launched (corrupted, missing, unlicensed, etc). From there you can enable the diagnostic port (the miniUSB on its back) and connect it to a PC.
Two of my babies died 😭 the third one is one I got for a friend. Luckily my bro @tripleoxygen is gonna fix the worn out nand & replace it with a brand new one that won’t die! #DoubleDragonZeebo will live on! #Zeebo#DoubleDragon
