Remember when Kevin O'Leary accused opponents of his Utah data center project of being linked to the Chinese Communist Party?
Turns out "trust me, bro" isn't a legal defense. 😬
He's now being sued for defamation after later admitting he had no evidence.

A med student asked me today:
"If viruses have been evolving for billions of years, why haven't they just killed all of us yet?"
I laughed. Then I stopped laughing.
Because the answer reveals the most terrifying evolutionary truth I've ever encountered.🧵
"Just put the fires out!"
Ever seen a boreal wildfire? I have. I used to fight them.
When fire behaviour becomes extreme, you're not getting close to them.
The radiant heat from a crown fire is face-melting from hundreds of metres away.
All attempts at direct attack will fail, because dropping water on it becomes akin to trying to spit on a campfire...it evaporates before it even hits the flames.
Additionally, reduced visibility, high winds, and turbulence makes aerial attack hazardous.
As a wildland firefighter, I've been extracted off of wildfires twice as our fires blew up, both times having our gear burned over. We returned to find firehoses and metal melted into the ash.
I've seen fireballs launched hundreds of feet high, and fires intense enough to produce lightning, influencing the weather around them. I've seen wildfires grow to the size of a major city in a short period of time.
So no, we can't just put the fire out.
Not being able to stop such a natural process is a truly humbling feeling.
While finishing the last five kilometers to reach 150K, a man pulled over to ask if I was okay.
So many Ukrainians have stopped along this road to ask if I need help, if I need a ride, if there is anything they can do. Every time I explain that I am walking to Kramatorsk to raise funds for my battalion, I am met with the same shocked look.
But this man simply looked at me and said, “Okay, but I am the police. So if you need help…”
I told him I was okay. That I was fundraising for my soldiers and walking home to Kramatorsk.
Then he took off his military police chevron and handed it to me.
He thanked me and wished me luck on the road.
I may be walking alone, but Ukrainians have made sure I never feel alone. They stop. They ask. They care. They walk a little piece of this road with me.
I am deeply grateful.
And thank you to every person who continues to support this journey, even when the world gives you every reason to look away.

‼️In June, 293 civilians were killed in russian strikes, the highest number in a month since the start of the full-scale russian invasion of Ukraine, UN human rights experts reported.
@AkulChange Be a rough room, in how they reflect each other will almost perfectly set the rest off...
90% it was a bad time and now it's everyone's problem
10% they shockingly resonate with each other, and therefore way to know where it goes from there; chill philosophy to universal issue
This morning in Biddeford, Maine, a 26-year-old man said goodbye to his wife and daughter and left for work. Moments later he was dead, shot in the head by ICE agents, the second man ICE has killed in six days.
ICE is killing our neighbors. ICE cannot be reformed. Abolish ICE.
Modern life leaves almost no room for unpredictable bodies.
Work wants consistency.
Friendships want availability.
Healthcare wants clear answers.
Society wants visible proof.
Chronic illness rarely offers any of those.
Last year some regrettable cost cutting decisions were made about foodborne pathogen testing, ending 28 years of screening for cyclosporiasis and quickly catching and quenching several outbreaks. Now we still have no idea what the source of this outbreak is. This is the price!!!
Canadian culture isn’t built on one ethnicity, one religion, or one language.
It’s built on respect, democracy, the rule of law, looking out for your neighbours, and the belief that people from every corner of the world can build a life together.
It’s Indigenous history. French and English heritage. New Canadians adding their own traditions without taking away from anyone else’s.
It’s hockey rinks, powwows, maple syrup, poutine, Céline Dion, Leonard Cohen, summer at the cottage, Tim Hortons runs, saying sorry when someone bumps into you, and standing in line without trying to cut.
Canadian culture isn’t about where you came from.
It’s about choosing Canada, contributing to it, and protecting what makes it worth calling home.
Give me one thing that means Canadian culture to you!

I am set up in my tent for the night, with my poncho stretched out as best as I could manage in the dark. Ignore me shoving everything into my backpack so I can prop up my feet.
First, thank you to everyone who continues to share my journey, donate to my battalion, and help me support my soldiers.

Every share and every donation matters more than you know.
But I also want to take a moment to say something, not for the person who zoomed in on a photograph of my face to mock the peach fuzz, but for every woman who might see something like that and suddenly feel ashamed of her own body.
Hair on a woman’s body is normal.
Peach fuzz is normal. Chin hairs are normal. Hormonal changes are normal. Bodies change after pregnancy, with age, with stress, and throughout our lives. Some women remove their facial hair, and some do not. I do not dermaplane, and I have no intention of starting because somebody on the internet decided my natural face was something to ridicule.
I have darker hairs on my chin that I pluck. I am not embarrassed to say that. I am a human being.
Women are constantly held to impossible beauty standards. Men experience it too. We are taught to inspect ourselves, criticize ourselves, and feel ashamed of the completely normal bodies we live in.
Please do not allow cruel people to decide how you feel about yourself.
Your body does not have to be flawless to be beautiful. You do not have to change yourself to deserve confidence, respect, or love.
Love yourself. Take up space. Be human.
