No Michelin Key. We booked it anyway.

Chunda Shikar Oudi is an old hunting lodge about an hour out of Udaipur — lake-facing suites, a private lake, and 400 acres of private jungle.

Everything's in the rate: breakfast, lunch, hi-tea and dinner, plus a nature walk, a boat ride on the private lake, and a jungle jeep safari.
Beyond that, the property also runs fishing, evening stargazing, early-morning cycling and a cooking class — worth asking about when you book.

Two nights is the sweet spot.

Michelin just released its 2026 Key hotels, and India now has 47 — up from 36 last year.

A few things that stood out to us going through the list:
Rajasthan holds 21 of the 47. Four of this year's 12 new names are here too — Mharo Khet in Jodhpur, SUJÁN The Serai in Jaisalmer, Anantara Jewel Bagh in Jaipur and Manuscript Jhilwara Haveli in Udaipur.

Gujarat has exactly one: Woods At Sasan in Gir.

Mumbai added three at once — Four Seasons, The St. Regis and Fairmont.

The Kumaon and SUJÁN Sher Bagh moved up to Two Keys, and only two hotels in the country hold Three: Taj Lake Palace and Taj Falaknuma.

One thing worth knowing: a hotel can be "in the Michelin Guide" without holding a Key. The Key is the actual award — the selection is a recommendation. Plenty of hotels advertise the first as if it were the second.
