Currently the UK are testing 1.2 million people a day for Covid (more the rest of Europe combined).

So if testing has a false positive rate of 1%, it would be impossible for the number of daily new cases in the UK to get below 12,000.

"Cases" are now predominantly young and unvaccinated but they are not getting very ill. Deaths are mostly of vaccinated but with very, very serious prior conditions and some unvaccinated because of those serious prior conditions. Cases and deaths not linked.

The ifr <70 is 0.05% > 70 0.23% That is on par with a severe flu.
Children statistically zero risk of dying of covid.

A reminder of the @spectator data hub tracking how many Covid-19 patients the SAGE modelling expected by now.

Closest to actual re-opening dates is SAGE's Scenario 3 (highlighted). That projected 8,245 patients & rising. Actual number is 1,255, just 15% of the projection.
