@jitdalive@acequinx@acidofair1@xMomokai Oh thanks for pointing that out! I did think it looked off, and I have never seen it before unlike the other Mo Du illustrations, but I added it in since the previous person included it. Should have checked beforehand. My bad!
@acidofair1@acequinx@xMomokai Look at the Mo Du Zhe trailer - LWZ isn't wearing a uniform as well but it's clear that he's an adult. Clearly, it's just the LWZ in this particular illustration that's has something wrong with it and not the other official art.
@acidofair1@acequinx@xMomokai The problem isn't just the clothes- I'm just saying that if I could suggest an edit for this particular LWZ, a uniform or a collared shirt under the hoodie or even a badge might help alleviate his design to reflect that he's an adult and not a student.
@acidofair1@acequinx@xMomokai If someone unfamiliar sees the cover and mistakes the main CP to be CEO gong x student shou they'd either pick it up and be disappointed or move onto the next book. Either way, the book is misrepresented and doesn't get the sale.
@acequinx@acidofair1@xMomokai So to a person who hasn't read it, he will just appear "young" period. It doesn't help that there's no indication that he's a cop, which is the case for the other official Mo Du art, which helps give the impression that LWZ is an adult.
@acequinx@acidofair1@xMomokai You can't just say "I still don't see it" when you were the one who pointed out why the drawing may be perceived as "younger than his actual age," which we only know because we've read the novel.
@acequinx@acidofair1@xMomokai I'm not asking for him to look significantly older? The only reason I mention the age gap was because you asked about how much the age gap was. I answered that he was seven years older but he was never portrayed to look younger than FD.
@acequinx@acidofair1@xMomokai I don't mind the height as well and I agree about Fei Du not being buff.
But LWZ does look younger and it's not just me saying this. Maybe not high school young but you could put this character drawing in a cover of Saye and he wouldn't look out of place.
@acequinx@xMomokai You point out why I supposedly think LWZ is younger so you can clearly identify the inherent design issue. The character design is telegraphing that LWZ is younger and looks like a student, not a cop. The only reason you know he's not a student is because you know the characters.
@acequinx@xMomokai Exactly. They are drawings, not actors which means you don't have to look for an existing person to match a look. You can just draw it. I mean, look the the Mo Du Zhe poster. LWZ looks like a cop and the age gap isn't noticeable but they both look like adults.
@acequinx@xMomokai If I remember correctly, it was at least a 7 year age gap since Fei Du was in middle school when Luo Wenzhou handled his case 7 years prior. It's not much of an age gap, but Luo Wenzhou definitely wouldn't look much younger than Fei Du.
@acidofair1@acequinx@xMomokai LWZ was indeed described to have a youthful appearance, but I don't think it was to the point that he'd look like a high schooler; otherwise, he wouldn't look so intimidating. He was also never described as looking younger than Fei Du.
@acequinx@xMomokai I think it's more because Luo Wenzhou in the illustration looks too young (like a student not a cop) and people are trying to point out things about the comp that make it seem like Fei Du is a lot older.
@JadeLan5 @gomanga@Ryleeart00 💯there's no way Fei Du would offer his umbrella to Luo Wenzhou like this, especially in book one. It just looks so off. Luo Wenzhou also looks like a student, not a cop.
