The behaviour of #antivaxxers across Canada this week is a slap in the face of every health worker who has given their ALL and sacrificed SO much on the frontlines of this pandemic. Shame on you.
On #COVID19 booster vaccines for populations:
"We’re planning to hand out extra lifejackets to people who already have lifejackets, while we’re leaving other people to drown without a single lifejacket"

I know some people call The Big Bang Theory a garbage television show but this is ridiculous! 😅

Someone posted this on my feed, and it’s a good reminder for those who balk when the messaging changes or evolves during the study of a new virus. Science is the only tool we have, and it’s doing its best.
Hello.
Just a couple of quick notes re: the comments from the WHO about mixing vaccine doses...
Kindly note those comments were made in the context of possible booster shots being explored in some parts of the world, and not in context of Canada’s current vaccine rollout. (1/6)
Joining @CP24 at 7:40PM tonight on a great panel to discuss the WHO messaging about mixing. Here we go again with poor communication however unintended. Mixing is safe; get the vaccine that is offered. #Pharmacists
Delta variant sadly (but predictably) ripping through unvaccinated populations - many in the US South.
Largely preventable given #COVID19 vaccine access.
"If they're sick enough to be admitted to the hospital, they are unvaccinated" -Dr. Howard Jarvis

2/ For those who received 2 doses of AstraZeneca...you received a vaccine that is very effective against #COVID19 (including Delta variant).
Recent data on effectiveness against hospitalization:
*71% after 1 dose
*91% after 2 doses
Excellent.

1/ Canada's National Advisory Committee on Immunization now states that an mRNA vaccine (Pfizer/Moderna) is "preferred as the 2nd dose for individuals who received a 1st dose of the AstraZeneca".
This is based on safety & immune response signals.

@bobane59@carolhochu@CBCAlerts If you do plan to switch, I'd recommend that you call ahead of time and make sure they schedule you as a pfizer shot rather than ask on the spot. It's much easier for the pharmacies to plan ahead (and it's really appreciated by the team when you do that!)
