Dark energy. It seems to me as though we measure what we can see, but there has been photons emitting into space for 13 billion years before reaching a destination, so the de could actually be the photons still traveling that we can’t see until they arrive

@neiltyson If we observe a star that is exactly one light year away, and are able to measure the number of photons in a m^3 surface area on earth, can we calculate the number of photons that exist at that instant between the two points in space (assuming the star stays on)?
